January 2023 Challenge : Day #25 (Back to Work!)

Today I hauled my ass back to the office. Just as well these days I don't feel depressed going back to work.

Yesterday evening I succumbed to the temptation of mandarin oranges. I ate four! hah..hah..hah... Well, this is better than stuffing my face with cookies (there were no cookies in the house anyway).

I also watched Archive 81 (recommended by my brother) and when I got to the last episode, it was already past 7:00pm. Had I stayed on to complete the series, it would be past 8:00pm. As a general rule I don't watch horror movies/series in the evenings so I called it quits (because I am a coward).

This morning I woke up feeling depressed which I might blame the oranges but I think it is more because I am worried about my mum and dad. But I am feeling better now.

At The Starling today, the two Chinese restaurants are doing roaring business. Tang Room was a hive of activity.

So was Dim Dou Duck.

For lunch today, I tapau some chicken and siew yoke from Addict Chicken Rice

I brought my own container and I should have told them to put the siew yoke together with the chicken (I expected them to do that).

They packed the siew yoke separately in a plastic box.

I was also given a bunch of sauces.

And a small tub of ginger condiment.

The sauces and ginger could be better tasting. They were bland and the only thing that stood out was that the chili dip was super hot.

The chicken was tender and moist, while I enjoyed the crispy skin of the siew yoke, flavor wise it was quite flat. Lunch didn't come cheap (obviously) and I have to make an effort to bring my own.

This morning Girl was zonked out and did not even move when I left the house (I did give her a warning that mommy was leaving for work). She and Belle Belle both stayed out last night.

This was her zonked out on Monday afternoon. Gosh. She is so fat. LOL!

  3. Mental stress and depression are no play play. Can put a toll on one mental and physical health.

Good to go back to work, so you wouldn't think too much. If the mandarin orange is sweet, I don't mind having 4!!

This year we bought 2 boxes. One was small size, super sour. Like not fully ripe. Another is honey ponkam, that is sweeter. The sour ones, we plan to make juice.

    1. Yeah, I know. I used to have anxiety and depression all the time and it was not a good place to be. I pray to God for guidance.

The ones I ate that evening were so juicy and sweet hee..hee...

  4. I ate 4 mandarin oranges at one go too! Very nice! Mandarin oranges have diuretics effects so I keep going to the washroom to pi which is a good thing for the urinary tract. Wah, Gurl is so cute sleeping on the chair, all curl up with her paws paws in the air. The chicken and siew yuk look tasty. Definitely not as flavourful as airfried beef trimmings though if eaten without the chili dip and ginger paste.

  5. This year I didn't buy mandarin oranges and also didn't receive any mandarin oranges. Instead, I received apples, pears and big oranges. This year being a good girl, I eat everything moderately, I have been working hard in the kitchen and now I can begin to relax as both my sons returned to work in the city. How nice if I can sleep so soundly like Girl.

    1. I told my partner not to buy any for the house but he is very traditional. My brother also gave me one box. It is good to eat moderately and also to relax. Hope that your tummy issues have resolved. I too wish I can sleep soundly and deeply like Girl.

  6. Ah, I see you've finally been tempted by the mandarin oranges. The oranges might be saying...aiks, blame me pulak for your depressed feelings after eating me...but how about when I bring you luck, happiness, good fortune and abundance? Lol. Whole night out, morning must zonk out lah! Girl is indeed getting rounder, maybe you should put her on a carnivore diet? Wakakakaka! :D

    1. LOL! Yes! Finally gave in to temptation and it was so good! Girl is already on carnivore diet hah..hah.. and yet she packs on the pounds. I learn from Youtube that raw food is best for cats but it is quite troublesome to prepare. So I stick to the Cindy wet food.

  7. Since you tapao-ed two types of meat, the vendor must be assumed that those were for different peoples. :P

  8. The upper two layers of the China Bopet film manufacturers film are resistant to the heat because they have greater melting points. To switch it up, the film may be sealed by melting the innermost layer—which has a lower melting point. It is possible to heat seal one side of this material. Furthermore, two-sided heat sealable material is now on the market. You may also ask Kingchuan for a heat sealing film that has a very strong seal. You should use these films when you need a strong and long-lasting binding.
