Something New

All too soon it was again Saturday. So off we went to the nursing home for our weekly visit to see dad.

We brought a packet of diapers as well as a box of gloves to replenish supplies.

Ah Boy was in a lazy mood and allowed me to give him head rubs.

After the visit we headed out to lunch. We were lucky to get a parking spot opposite the restaurant.

Yes, we ordered something different. In fact two dishes that we have not ordered before. Kangkung Belancan (L) since mum was talking about it a few days ago.

Homestyle Seafood Tofu (S) which turned out to be a rip off. It was full of starch and not even tasty.

The accompanying chili dip had a strange taste. That's the problem with trying a new dish. There's always a risk that it turns out so so or lousy.

Our perennial favorite - Honey Pepper Abalone Mushroom (L). It was as good as ever and the mushrooms came in large chunky pieces, the way we like it.  The last two visits the mushrooms were in tiny bits.

This is my brother's favorite Choy Poh Steamed Fish. The fish was very fresh and mum remarked that it was delicious.

Next week we will try to order another two new dishes and fingers crossed, hopefully they are good.

***Kitten Updates***

TuTu Kat peeking out from her box.

Poodie Kat has started exploring her mum's food. I will start the kitties on solid foods,

They are getting acquainted with Auntie Girl.

The little ones sometimes climb into the big litter box to do their business.

My mum says that TuTu Kat is very clever to pose.

  1. TuTu Kat not only clever to pose but looks into the camera too. Most cats would shy away from looking into camera or they would just move around, making it so difficult to capture a static photo.
We also seldom explore new dishes when eating out, fearing it may turn out weird and not up to our 'taste'. So, it is always our usual 4-5 dishes.

    1. Ya, it is very hard to take photos of them. The camera must always be ready for impromptu shots. So you are the same. I thought I am the only one who likes to paly it safe.

  3. I don't think I've come across homemade seafood tofu that's full of starch as they' re are always soft & silky (at least those I've eaten). I wonder how one full of starch tastes like. >.< P/S: The good thing about cats is that you don't have to potty train them...it's instinct when it comes to cat litter. Girl is wondering who is this little fella "invading" her toilet...lol. She's still a little apprehensive of the kitties as can be seen from the ears being arched back.

    1. I must be unlucky to get a seafood tofu that is starchy and hardly any taste. That's what I like about cats, we don't have to worry about their toilet issues. The just know what to do and where to do. Girl can be naughty and tried to swipe the kitties but she does not do it all the time.

  4. Starch tofu sounds awful. I guess you all just left most of the starch tofu behind.

    1. Actually Auntie Girl sometimes tries to swipe them with her paw. But luckily not all the time.

  7. I have eaten this seafood tofu few times and they were crispy but bland. Had to put so much chilly to eat them. Usually the restaurant captains would introduce such weird new dishes to diners.
