Roasted Meats

I have been going to the chicken rice stalls again for my lunches. Cheap and good.

Char Siew, Siew Yoke and Kai Pei. My standard order. And oh, I tell them - no rice, no sauce and no chili. They think - this woman is so weird.

This was at Restoran Yu Yiee, Damansara Jaya. Very convenient because I pass by on my way back to Damansara Utama.

The Bak Kut Teh uncle is still there.

My favorite meat on this platter is the char siew. Even without added char siew sauce. So fatty, so tender, so melt-in-my-mouth. Woohoo!!

This is not the standard serving because I asked to add-on siew yoke (RM12.00 + RM4.00 = RM16.00)

I went to The Starling via this garden for my post-meal walk.

The train deco is still developing in phases. No HSBC logo. I wonder if they are still the sponsors.

Stesen Keretapi The Starling.

Oh! A Cendol station hee..hee...

The next day I went to 282Mixed Rice. I discovered that the foreign couple were no longer operating the chicken rice stall. It was the chap fan lady boss who attended to me.

Oh dear, Just looking at the plate you can tell that this was not good.

So different from what it was like before. This for RM10.00. I prefer to pay more elsewhere for better quality and quantity.

The complimentary soup was .... well .... I ate the vegetables and had a sip or two. Not coming back.

On the way to The Starling, I passed by PIII Eatery.

Yesterday, I went to Restoran 1111.

I requested for no sauce, as usual, but the stall assistant applied the sauce. The boss was apologetic but I told him it was OK. This serving was RM11.50.

I brought my own kimchi so that I get my quota of bacteria for the day hah..hah...

I conclude that the best chicken rice place to go to for roasted meats combo is at Restoran Yu Yiee, Damansara Jaya.

By the way, I am fasting but my fasting window is from 2:00pm+ to 11:00am+ (approximately 21 hours).

Eating window 11:00am+ to 2:00pm+ Just changing up the timing to suit my convenience and to see how I feel. I might change it up.

  1. Ah, good that you are testing eating between 11 am to 2 pm only to see how you feel during fasting.
I see some of the roast meat plates are so little, won't even fill me up too.
The next time I go to starling mall, I will go look for this frangipani garden. Thanks for writing about it. 👍 😊

  2. Yes, fasting can help to promote disease recovery by allowing the body to rest and focus energy on healing. No wonder in hospitals after a surgery patient is not allowed to eat and drink during the first 2 days. Yet in my mind I had another question. Does fasting cause gastric? I googled and this is what I found - yes, fasting can cause gastric issues like heart burn, indigestion and acid reflux. This is so when the stomach is empty for a long time.

  3. Nowadays when I eat at roasted meats stall when I am dining alone, I would opt out the default soup as the soup is usually so hot (opt out so it is more convenient and easier for me to just carry a plate of mixed meats with rice to my table, in SG nowadays many stalls are self service) and saltish (which it only causes me thirst). I still need white rice with my char siew, roasted pork or roasted duck to tone down the saltishness of my meats.
