During the bereavement period from the day after dad passed until a day after the funeral, I was eating carbs. Loads. LOL!
Not so much that I was comfort eating, but more for convenience.
This is one of the Ramadan specials on the La Juceria Superfoods Grabfood menu. I will have to say that the sambal belacan is very authentic, much like the sambal belacan that my auntie makes.
The tofu curry was also very good. Thumbs up!
The many varieties of side dishes add up and this dosirak is very filling. Here we have bulgogi beef, one prawn and pancake (fritters).
Then there is rice, fried egg, japchae, tteboki, mixed veggies, kimchi and cut fruits (watermelon and mango).
Well, at least the carbs (rice) is accompanied by proteins and vegetables. It is better than eating full on carbs like fried noodles or rice.
Now I have to reset and rewind.
Mmmmm.... my favorite Kopi C.
Thai Spiced Pork Chops with two servings of grilled vegetables. The pork chops were smokey and had flavors like bak kwa. Loved it!
All in all, I had carbs for 4 days straight (including meals I had at Nirvana). Now I am back on track but I will allow myself two days a week of carbs since I am now metabolically healthy(ier). Yay!
The last photo of pork chop is one portion? Normally, the serving in the restaurant is just one piece.
ReplyDeleteAre the Thai spiced pork chops from The Charcoal Grill? If yes, I must make a note to eat these pork chops there. Looks good and sounds like something that my spouse would like too.
ReplyDeleteTofu curry I will like. Ah good that you are flexible else it would need more effective efforts to get meat only meals during those sad and busy days. I like that you have a good variety of colourful and tasty food during the bereavement days. Keeping the body well fed healthily balanced meals is important 💪
I would go for the Korean. Carbs and protein in one serving....sure looked hearty. I will be loaded after finishing it.
ReplyDeleteStay healthy and happy are important as we age.
Ahhhh, the first pic of pork chops (I thought they were chicken chops) and grilled vegetables, looked like from Nando's. Food makes us full and happy. It is important to be well fed and to be happy so that we have the energy and mood to move on.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I went Nando's for meal recently and it was value for money. The Peri Peri boneless chicken thigh with 2 sides costs $18.80 nett. I chose Med.rice and coleslaw for the 2 sides. The Med.rice is very fragrant and on the soft side but not too soft with bits of green pea, carrots and corns. The portion of the coleslaw was huge which I like also. The lemon herb sauce for the chicken is a little spicy which I can detect. The chicken skin is tender and tasty. Iced water is on the house with no additional charges. Quite reasonable price I find. $18.80 nett with no service charge and GST which are all inclusive.
