Carb Day #4 : Nasi Lemak Shop, Bandar Utama

Well, well. I have finally visited Nasi Lemak Shop, which is located in my neighborhood. Am I lucky or what? hah...hah...

When I opened the door to leave the house, I saw all my four girls waiting outside.

They were so "well behaved". All four were at home. That's the way that they are. When I am at home, they tend to stick around.

Poodie was doing her cutesie pose as I left the house. I had some walking to do to get to my nasi lemak treat. Ooo...can't wait!

This is Oasis 4, a small shoplot located at Bandar Utama 4 (BU4). There is a pastry cafe at the far left (which I have yet to visit), a hair salon and convenience stores. Nasi Lemak Shop is at the far right.

When I got there I noticed many cars parked along the roadside.

As I made my way to Nasi Lemak Shop, I realized that I was not as early as I had thought.

You can't see what's going on inside due to the blinds surrounding the shop. When I got to the entrance (which is at the side), adoi

It looked like the whole neighborhood was there. I was lucky to get the sole available table.

The tables were very closely placed due to the space constraint. So it was a little bit uncomfortable.

Ordering is via QR code which is brought to you after you are seated.

Ah! There you have it, my order of Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah with Sambal Sotong add-on and iced Kopi C. I simply couldn't wait to dig in because, when was the last time I had nasi lemak?

After digging in, I can totally understand why this little shop is so packed with diners.

The nasi lemak was very fragrant, with easily separated grains of rice.  The fried chicken was well marinated and fried just right, the flesh was tender with a good coating of spices.

The sambal and Sambal Sotong were very much to my liking, what I would expect of nasi lemak sambal. The nasi lemak was accompanied by half an egg, ikan bilis, peanuts and cucumber slices.

The Kopi C also met with my expectations although it is not the best Kopi C that I have had.

I can say that the nasi lemak here, based on my experience, is not to be missed. Worth a  trip here (and braving the crowd) if you live outside Bandar Utama, and well worth the walk for me.

God knows how many nasi lemak I have eaten with substandard ingredients and poor execution - from soggy rice to over fried chicken and underwhelming sambal.

Well not this one. In fact I think they can give Village Park, Damansara Utama, a run for their money. Hah!

  1. And yes, that is the question I should ask myself when was the last time I had nasi lemak. It's been a long while I last had nasi lemak because it is not easy to find really sedap nasi lemak. What you had looks really good with all the sambal chili. At least you had a very satisfying meal.

And your furkids love you so much, they love to hang around with grandma.

    1. Hi mi! I am still largely carnivore and as you may notice from my posts I am not 100% strict. I hope the carnivore diet brings you many health benefits as it did for me.

  5. Ah yes, I've heard about this Nasi Lemak Shop....so the general consensus is accurate then, they're really good (until can give Village Park Nasi Lemak a run for its money)! ;) If I have a nasi lemak place like that in my neighbourhood, I wouldn't have waited so long before trying...lol! ;D

  6. Everything is good here except the queue, but the waiting area is upgraded from only water is served and now with snacks also, which make the waiting not that bad after all. LOL
