Cheap Lunch Again

I went to the chicken rice stall at Restoran Yu Yiee, Damansara Jaya again.

I brought a container of kimchi to eat with the meats.

This is the regular portion at RM12.00. Very worth it.

I count 5 pieces of char siew and 5 pieces of siew yoke. Now I compare with the previous order with extra siew yoke (RM16.00).

On the left is the order with extra siew yoke (I counted 6 extra pieces) and on the right is the regular order.

I find that the regular order is already enough for me but if I am extra hungry, I would add on.

On my walk in Damansara Utama, I took a photo of these tiny white flowers.

As usual now, I go up to the "secret" garden to connect to The Starling.

This bright red Frangipani is outside UOB Bank which is next to the stairs leading up to the garden.

These flower buds are about to bloom.

These are developing flower buds which will soon bloom. I am following the development when I pass by everyday. Hmmm... if only I were so enthusiastic during botany classes back in the day hah...hah....

  1. Yummy and affordable normal fare food. I had fatty caramelized char siew rice at S$4 for ytd lunch. Lucky that there was no long queue so that the boys staff could accede to my request for fatty char siew. It was so enjoyable! My desert rose "died" on me after two to three years with me. I admitted that I did not take good care of it. I wasn't able to take care of it daily as sometimes I forgot to water it etc due to my work and other commitments. I said sorry to my plant silently and bidded goodbye to it. Yes I talked to my plant. I also talked to my library books which I could not finish reading right to the end. It was a good book and I said to the book when I returned to the library at the book drop, "Byebye hope to see you again!" Crazy right, I talked to plants and books. Lol!

    1. Actually I read that it is good to talk to your plants. I must search for that article. But I have never talked to books. LOL! I don't think it is crazy.

  2. Definitely more worth it if you add on 6 pieces of siew yuk at additional of RM4 but it depends if you have the need that day or if you feel like wanting it that day (craving). The char siew looked really good, juicy and full of shine. And I am sure the siew yuk was good too.

    1. I agree since the add on is affordable. But if I am not that hungry, then normal portion should suffice.

  3. Oh yah. Still on the topic of fasting. I Google why Muslims fast. This is what I found. Muslims fast during Ramadan as a core act of worship and religious obligation, aiming to cultivate piety, self-discipline and empathy for those less fortunate. Piety is when you fast then you will remember the act of your parents earning a living and cooking so that you have food on the table. Self discipline is important as when you are working and in many things we do we need to have self discipline and control. Empathy is not only to feel sympathy for those less fortunate but to let you to appreciate what you have and how blessed you are.

    1. Thank you for sharing what you learnt. I used to sit in during Islam class when I was in primary school and I learnt quite a bit about fasting and other Muslim practices.

  4. The regular portion at RM12.00 really is good value for 💰 👍 😋
Looks more than what I bought for RM17 at a coffee shop near my place

  5. I felt sorry for my desert rose who "died" on me as during those three years with me, it bloomed for me and made me so happy a few times within a year. I guess there is still a soft spot in me. Even plants I can feel attached, let alone those cute feline and doggies so it is a definite no no for me to get myself a pet cat or a pet dog.

    1. You have a good heart and you are a softie like me! I have had many plants die on me. Some due to not enough watering and some I over watered, LOL!
