I won't call it a cheat day because I am not cheating. Cheating means you are doing something you are not supposed to do.
Now that I am (more) metabolically healthy, I am reintroducing carbs though I won't eat carbs daily.
What do I mean by metabolically healthy?
1. My fasting blood glucose is within the reference range. You may notice that my recent blood glucose reading is higher than previous readings.
Well, although I fasted, I felt that (part of) the meal I had the evening before the blood test was still digesting. LOL! I ate too much >.<
2. Yes, my cholesterol levels are above reference range. But I am not worried based on new information on cholesterol. The information on cholesterol which we are still being fed with by the mainstream media (and our GP) is at least 50 years outdated.
But my HDL (the so-called good cholesterol) is above reference range.
I was quite surprised that they now measure Apolipoprotein. My ratio (APO B/APO A1) is below 0.9.
3. My trygliceride is below 1.0.
4. I do not have high blood pressure.
5. My waist circumference is below 35"
I am also pleased that my inflammation level (hs-C Reactive Protein) is maintained below 0.5.
I also no longer have carb cravings and I am in remission from carb addiction. I am also able to fast which means that I can switch between glucose and fat burning.
Besides my body weight has been stable and I am happy with my body recomposition - higher muscle percentage compared to fat.
I can eat until satiated and I no longer need to portion control.
Now I eat carbs twice a week. I will do another blood test in six months time to see how I fare.
When I eat carbs, it is carbs + proteins + veggies. I won't eat full blown carbs like pasta or fried rice or noodles in any frequency (maybe once a month).
It looks like The Good Batch has finally called it a day. I am not surprised as they have gone downhill. They couldn't even get their coffee right. Ah, too bad. Let's wait and see who will take over this space.
Good morning 🌞
ReplyDeleteOk ok, not a cheat day then, just a carb day 😁
I can wait for the new branch to open in midvalley because I am sure I will like this sourdough smoked salmon sandwich 😋
Wow! Good blood test results. Thank you for sharing the details. 👍
Good morning! Yes, no cheating LOL! Halla Hollal Mid Valley should be opening soon. You can check them on Instagram.
DeleteWould you still recommend keto for those who have normal cholesterol, sugar, etc?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, absolutely. Carbs and sugar (and processed foods) ought to be consumed very sparingly. If going keto, try to avoid the keto snacks and ice cream etc because although these have alternative sweeteners, they will keep cravings and addictions alive.
DeleteCongrats on your blood test results which you are happy about. Same here, when I have carbs, it is a balanced meal with meat (protein), egg (protein and vitamin D) and veggies (for vitamins and digestion). I like smoked salmon but not with sourdough. Yes, not cheat day but carbs day.
ReplyDeleteThank you. You are eating a nutritious diet and I am glad!
DeleteGood morning! Hi I was feeling a little down and depressed on Saturday as my energy level was low and I was thinking as each day passes I am closer to death and I do not know what to expect so I always pray to my god that if my time on earth is up please grant me a peaceful and painless death in my sleep at somewhere peaceful. I had seen many cases of friends and relatives dying of cancer and suffering extreme pain before their death. On top of that I was feeling sad and lonely thinking of deceased love ones. Most of the days I am up and positive, just that ytd Saturday I was low on mood. Wish you have a beautiful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I hope that you are feeling positive today. It is normal to have low days, I do too. Death is a certainly in life and we are all born to die one day. What we can do, In my opinion, is to live each day as best we can. Be kind to others and do no harm. As you have mentioned before, the practice of gratitude will bring us contentment. Also being self aware is beneficial. Yes, as we age, we are closer to our expiry date but do not think too far ahead. Live today and look forward to tomorrow. Pray to God for wisdom and protection. Have a great day ahead!
DeleteI will like to dedicate one lovely song to you. The song by Mr Perry como titled "And I love you so". Part of the lyrics go like, the book of life is brief, and once a page is read, all but life is dead, that is my belief. And yes, I know how lonely life can be, the shadows follow me and the night won't set me free. But I don't let the evening get me down. Now that you're around me. Do listen to it if you have the time. It is a very sentimental song but not a really sad song.
ReplyDeleteAh! I remember that song! Thank you for the dedication. Old songs like this have very meaningful lyrics.
