Walking Off The Glucose

Last Saturday afternoon I stopped at Halla Holla on my walk back to Damansara Utama.

I just wanted to chill out, have an iced coffee and a pastry. Yes, only one pastry hah..hah...

I was delighted that they were still serving Kouign Amman

Unfortunately this time there was too much syrup applied to the Kouign Amman. It was too sweet for me.

This was a tumbler of very good black coffee.

The black coffee balanced out the too sweet pastry. Oh, by the way, Halla Holla is opening an outlet at Mid Valley Megamall. So those of you in KL can have easier access to their products.

After eating carbs, I like to walk to bring my blood sugar down. It is a very effective means of doing so.

This is another pathway to go up to The StarlingIt is located next to the Uptown 7 carpark entrance

The other one (Not-So-Secret-Garden) is between Tower A Uptown 5 and Menara TH).

I love this red Frangipani.

This flight of stairs gave me a good workout.

Ooohhh! So pretty!

It was a very hot afternoon. So I continued climbing the stairs.

At the top of the stairs there is a narrow walkway that leads straight ahead. Turn left at the end.

You will come to this small patch of green.

Just walk straight ahead.

At the end of the path, you will come upon another short flight of stairs.

When you go up the stairs, you will end up at the Not-So-Secret-Garden. That other staircase is on the left.

I couldn't help snapping pictures of the Frangipani

Straight ahead is the corridor leading to The Starling.

I was sweating quite a bit when I got here.

Although there are two pathways leading up to The Starling, my preferred path is not this one.

The environment above the stairs next to  the Uptown 7 carpark is what in Hokkien is referred to as "im" - negative energy.

It is secluded and more shaded (hence less sunlight) and it is believed that such an environment attracts otherworldly beings. Eeekkkss!!!! Cabuttt!!!

  1. Good morning! The last photo cracked me up! What a cheeky little boy or little girl. Yes, I do believe in those otherworldly beings as I have two friends with 阴阳眼,eyes which can see those beings. Why would they want to "bluff" me if they cannot gain anything from me by saying so. So if there are those "beings" and humans, I believe there is a third reign of gods. And yes, I had been to houses which gave me the goosebumps and "yin" feelings when I stepped into them. By the way, I noted you had changed and updated the previous few posts to "goodbye papa" in loving memory of your dad. All's well ends well. And let's move on and focus our energy on crucial basic survival needs and positive things. Time flies.

Oh yes, talking about the weather, yesterday was the beginning of monsoon season in SG, with non stop "long life" heavy rain. Till now, while I am typing this comment, it is still raining. Usually they say when it is near the "tomb sweeping" day (Qing ming), it will bring rainy season. Does that mean "the sky is also crying"?

Have a good day ahead for you and me.

    1. Good morning! Thank you for your positive vibes! I have also been to places that give me scary feeling or houses where a particular spot has that negative feeling. It also rained a bit yesterday evening. I welcome the rain as it is simply too hot!

    1. hah..hah... the real otherworldly beings are not cute >.< Yes, our weather is too hot for walking outdoors. I sweat like hell when I walk to and from DU to DJ.

  4. If you had a glucose meter for a before and after reading (after walking the sugar off like you said), then you'll know 100% if that is indeed the case. Perhaps I should try that one day. ^_~ Those secret walkways only a true Starling ambassador would know...lol! It looks rather deserted and quiet though, so be careful when walking there. Like CY, I too hate walking outdoors and sweating buckets. My idea of walking would be strolling under air-conditioning in a mall...hah..hah.

    1. I meant to buy a glucose meter but haven't got down to it. I know that physiologically blood glucose will drop with physical activity.

  5. Ah, you are the bringer of good news. I will definitely dine at Halla Holla outlet at Mid Valley Megamall.
I only know of going to starling from Annie 1 or behind twins duck. Your this creepy way looks quite complex route.

    1. Good for you that they are now at a location convenient for you. That route is not complex. It's like two staircases that lead to one location.
