What would your attitude be if your daughter (or son for that matter) aspires to become a beautician?
Well, if I had a child, I would be supportive of their choice of profession. But I know that my parents would not have approved had I had such ambitions for myself.
My brothers and I had a nice chat with an uncle there. He checked himself in together with his wife to keep her company as she was recovering from open heart surgery.
As he sagely implored us to "don't get sick!", he also advised both my brothers to "cut down" their weight hah..hah...
He also told us not to leave it to fate - you must do your part to keep yourself healthy and free from chronic disease. I agree wholeheartedly.
As usual, after the visit we adjourned to Kar Hiong for our chow.
Something different - Sizzling Homemade Tofu. I doubt if they homemade the tofu but I thought this dish was very nice.
And Thai Style Lemon Steamed Fish (Carp) which was something similar to the Siamese Style that we ordered previously. It was very fragrant with calamansi lime and a bit too sweet. No, there were no lemons. LOL!
Overall, I had a feeling my mum and my brother were not too excited about my choice of dishes. Too "ching" and not punchy enough. Instead of tofu I should have ordered pork, perhaps the pork ribs. Sorry folks, next time!
The nursing home looks really clean, tidy and "atas", hope uncle feels comfortable and well taken care of staying there. 2 veggies, one tofu and one fish. Maybe your brother will feel hungry shortly after cos only one meat and fish is considered "light" meat. But tofu and veggies and eggs are good. Tofu is very nutritious.
ReplyDeleteAh, this meal may not be "ngam" with your mom & brother but certainly very "ngam" me. I'd gladly tuck into your choices (with no meat dish...lol)...and I'd enjoy the spinach with egg dish. Perhafps the lemon is lemon juice in the sauce of the fish. P/S: When you take photos of the nursing home interior, it always seems 'vacant'...is it not fully occupied? My MIL's nursing home was always filled with occupants that there's no possibility of taking photos without the occupants in the shots...lol.
ReplyDeleteLet me take this opportunity to wish you and your family a healthy new year ahead (no need wealthy, right? haha) since health is the most important to you! ;)
Your choice of dishes seemed ok with me, though another meat dish would be lovely :) The nursing home looks perfect for recovery. CNY is early this year. Here is to wish you, family & all the kitties good health in the year of snake.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a quite open-minded parent which I support any decision that Sam's made, as long as it's not something illegal and harmful to others. Sh herself also need to take full responsibility on what she has decided and accepts all consequences arising from her actions.
ReplyDeletePH, wishing you & family a prosperity and healthy 2025!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention....I think this tofu is definitely homemade (from its looks...yellow on the inside with a layer on the outside that's well fried). Those not housemade ones will be those from a tube...circular in size...lol.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Same as your bro and mom, I would like something more flavourful and with more punch. PH, here's wishing 2025 will be a better year for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI will also support my children if they want to be a beautician. Nothing wrong with being a beautician.
ReplyDeleteI like the tofu dish and spinach dish. The care home really looks nicely decorated. Still got vacant rooms for the husband to check in to live there together with his wife. I suspect they are in their late 60s only and not early 80s because I don't think surgeons would advise open heart surgery for early 80s. The risk may be much higher.
