Rainy But Energetic Saturday

This morning it rained. Haiz! I wished that it was Sunday so that I could sleep in hee..hee...

Before I left for the office, my second batch of Lactobacillus Reuteri cultured dairy was ready (after a 36 hour incubation).

Ah! Look at that! It did not separate like the first batch. Here is a comparison.

On the left was the culture on the first day of 2025. On the right is the second batch (made with the first batch as starter) which looked a lot better. But the smell - adoi! still like strong cheese.

At the office, I cleared some stuff before taking a walk to Damansara Jaya. Fortunately, the rain was not that heavy.

First stop is for a good cup of coffee and a protein packed breakfast.

Again, I ordered 6 eggs with request for all to be in one plate. But the kitchen had other ideas.

Maybe the person who prepared the eggs felt that it was too crowded to put all in one plate.

As I was waiting for my brekkie, I observed two aunties at the able opposite mine share a plate of salad. A bit later they were serve Avocado Toast with Scrambled Eggs. Ah good! They are getting some protein heh..heh...

After I was done, I walked to my brother's house with a spring in my steps hee..hee.. so energetic!

Here is our first dish at Kar Hiong - Pork Belly with Salted Fish (M). Now that I look at the photo, eh, this dish is so dry. Usually there is some gravy but it was delicious nevertheless.

This is our first time trying the Siamese Style Steamed Fish (carp). The sauce is sweet (too sweet, even my brother commented) and sourish (calamansi lime) and spicy hot (cili padi). The fish was very fresh and hence this was a very enjoyable and appetizing dish.

For vegetables we had this Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves (L) and Sayur Manis Fried with Egg (L).

This was my plate, macam buffet style.

Of course I helped myself to more food. I ate only one portion of the pork belly dish (as seen above).

Because what I ate today was more "ching", I did not experience any adverse effects. In fact my energy level remained stable and on my walk back to The Starling later, I was very perky and could even run up the escalators hee..hee...

  1. Since yesterday, it has been raining continuously non stop for two days till today. The news announced that there might be a likelihood of flash floods at some places. Lucky the places i reside at and went today were not affected. That day i ate 2 half boiled eggs for my protein. As i swallowed down the egg yolk, i felt satisfied and energised instantly so eggs are good for us. I had cheese cake today for some self indulgence. The cheese just melted in my mouth. So satisfying. Talking about pampering ourselves. The cheesecake was from han's and costed S$5.90.

  2. As usual, the food at Kar Hiong looked delish to me just that the fish might be too spicy for me. Glad you enjoyed your Saturday. Have a good Sunday tomorrow.
