Expensive Lunch?

For lunch when I want to stay carnivore, my favorite go to is char siewsiew yoke which I can get at chicken rice stalls.

I was hungry and I requested for one strip of siew yoke and one strip of char siew (no sauce). I know that's a lot for one person. This cost me RM30.00. Is this expensive?

When  told my partner about it, he was like whoa! Siaw! (siaw in Hokkien means crazy). I don't know if the siaw referred to me (eating like this) or the price hah...hah...

After I ate, I went for a walk even though I didn't eat carbs. This Swan shop opened recently at The Starling.

Gosh! I had no idea that Swan bags were so expensive. No wonder parents are foaming at the mouth about the cost of maintaining kids.

At Mr DIY, I saw these very cute glass lock containers. Ya, ya, I bought two. Haiz! LOL!

Then I went to Popular Bookstore and spotted the blurb from this book. It sounded like those trashy romance novels.

After that I went up to BookXcess.

I still love looking at cookbooks.

No veggie burgers for me.

Hmmm... Eat Like A Man. I can eat as much as my partner and I can out eat some men heh...heh...

What I can say is that I love burgers and I admit that without the bun, it's not the same.

Pies and tarts used to be something I get excited about. I'll still eat some from time to time but I don't go out of my way to eat one.

Ah! Asparagus. I haven't eaten this veggie in a long time but I remember how it made my pee smelly. LOL!

This was dinner. Very boring looking but it was good eaten with kimchi.

Ah Boi is my pretty girl. But this girl is smelly. I carried her two days ago and sniffed her head (I do this to my girls especially Girl). Eeekkss! I guess she didn't clean herself properly. Girl has a neutral clean smell.

Words of wisdom from Cicero. Do you agree?

  1. RM30 is expensive to me. Ah boi busy playing and going Jalan Jalan that she has no time to clean herself properly. Yes, agree with the words of wisdom. I read somewhere that gratitude is the motivation if you face any problems in your life. When you learn to count your blessings, you are more likely not to be overwhelmed by your problems and you have more motivation to move forward. Have a wonderful day ahead for you and me.

    1. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Yes, gratitude begets many other virtues like compassion, empathy for other who may not be as blessed as us. I will stick to the normal portion of roasted meats LOL!

    2. Good that you are embracing the attitude of gratitude. There are many people worse than us and facing a lot of hardships so we should count our blessings and be nice to those less fortunate than us. Counting our blessings also helps us to stay jovial and positive most of the times.

  2. It sounds expensive but it's not. RM15 for a strip of siu yuk or char siew is quite standard. Remember that a packet of siu yuk rice will set you back RM10 these days (and if you count the no. of pieces, you'd probably get around 7). So, if you get a strip of about 15 pcs, RM15 is about right (some will cost even RM20! ;) Your partner said "siaw" not to your way of eating but to the price. If someone is used to eating siu yuk with rice all the time, they would not know the price...hah..hah. P/S: I love reading and collecting cookbooks. I've many that I haven't even got to reading...lol!

    1. Ah, glad to know that the price is acceptable. I don't think I'll buy a bog portion again. Same here, I have many cookbooks collecting dust. LOL!

    2. That portion is not big.

    3. Yes, Libby, I agree the portion is not big but (what to do) pork is expensive these days. My go-to pork noodles stall just told me this morning that he has to increase his price to RM10.50 a bowl from RM10. A packet of siu yuk rice gets you about 7-8 pcs of siu yuk for around RM10 so that portion is equivalent to 2 pkts worth, so RM15 seems reasonable.

  3. I also say rm30 for both char siew and siew yuk is not expensive but the current market price. If eaten with rice, the charsiew and siew yuk given are very much less because they tend to stuff customers full with the oily rice.
Ah Boi who is a girl is so pretty 😍
Erh, she must have walked in the long kang just before you carry her so she is smelly.
After they clean themselves, usually they don't smell.

  5. I think the "Siaw" referred to the price of your lunch because RM30 for a weekday lunch is quite expensive. :P
