Volcano Kimchi

Before I get into the kimchi, let's talk pork belly first.

I found another trick. Put some smashed garlic cloves under the perforated tray to brown the garlic.

Unfortunately the pork belly was lean and there was not much fat. But still I got my garlic browned with some bits burnt.

I opened a new bottle of store bought kimchi. This one is packed in a glass jar.

Whoa! As soon as I opened the jar, it started actively bubbling.

I was scared that it would overflow and mess up my dining table.

So I just let it settle and allow the gasses to escape.

This is a good sign.

The microbes are alive.

The juices spilled when I attempted to take some kimchi out from the bottle. But no big deal.

This kimchi is good. Very delicious.

This kimchi brand is Penguin Taste. They also have radish kimchi, vegan kimchi and gochujang.

    1. Of the brands you mentioned, we also have Bibigo and Jongga. Bibigo quite good but has too many (chemical) ingredients. Jongga does not suit my taste.

  5. Oh yes! Today and tomorrow are Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. I wonder why there are always eggs and bunnies when people celebrate or mention Easter. This is what I found. Eggs and bunnies are associated with Easter due to their long standing symbolic connection to fertility, new life, and the springtime renewal that Easter celebrates. While Christianity adopted these symbols, their origins lie in pre-christian pagan traditions. In many ancient cultures, Eggs were symbols of fertility and rebirth, representing the cycle of life and the beginning of spring. Christians later adopted this symbolism, associating Eggs with the resurrection of Jesus.

Just curious and just sharing :)

    1. Thanks for the sharing. It is good that you have a sense of curiosity and took the trouble to find out more. Easter is commercially associated with chocolate eggs. My auntie brought one back some years a ago.
