Onsen Eggs

The other day I dropped by Halla Holla again simply because I wanted coffee.

The moment I stepped inside, wah .... the smell of pastries was wonderful! Of course I wasn't going to eat pastries. The only thing I can eat here (for now) are eggs.

I was thirsty and helped myself to some water from the water dispenser.

I sipped the water while I eagerly waited for my coffee.

Ah! Wonderful!

And my double order of onsen eggs.

They looked so perfect.

The ramekins were very hot while the eggs were cool. They were seasoned with salt and pepper. The egg whites stuck to the ramekins and I tasted something - it wasn't butter.

I think they coated the ramekins with some form of fat/oil (shortening?) to prevent the eggs from sticking. I didn't like that taste.

I do love the eggs except for that mysterious ingredient. Maybe next time I should ask.

It was raining outside one evening and my naughty girl came inside to sit on my stomach.

Then she moved after I kacau her a few times.

    1. Oh ya, you blogged about the ones you bought at Family Mart. For some strange reason I can't get them at the Family Mart near me.

  4. I eat my eggs with Bovril, Marmite or Vegemite. If all not available, I'd settle for kicap, never on their own.

  5. These 4 onsen eggs were your lunch? You have to see your luck when you're trying to get Family Mart onsen egg as they are only available in certain outlets and they are always sold out. Try your luck at CU Mart too, it's sold there as well.
