Post GE 15 Carb Fest #5 : Hainan Curry Mee

Maybe I am a sucker for curry mee or what, I don't know. But I had to try Kean Seng Kopitiam's Hainan Curry Mee. And also their iced White Coffee.

This is my opportunity to do it, right? It better be worth it because I won't be having carbs for a while after I complete another two days of this hah...hah...

So Hainan Curry Mee and iced White Coffee it is.

The coffee, which I requested for less sweet, was betul-betul kurang manis. Although I enjoyed the coffee, I thought it was a bit diluted.

Now on to the curry mee.

I requested for yellow noodles.

In the curry mee were shredded chicken, tofu puffs, tofu crisps, some fish cake, beansprouts and long beans. In terms of the curry broth, it is not the lemak type. How shall I describe it?

For the curry mee enthusiasts out there, I also snapped a close up of the curry broth. It is thin, think prawn mee type of consistency but with curry taste, like that.

As I was finishing my meal, I found a tiny prawn.

And then another one. These must be those frozen type because they had a crunchy texture.

The curry mee wasn't bad and neither was it outstanding, so I will say that it's not one that I would eat again. Maybe in general I won't eat curry mee again, who knows hah...hah... Like I always say, taste is subjective, so others may find this curry mee to their liking.

So let's see what I shall eat next, eh? I remember there were a few of you who even suggested breakfast, lunch and dinner, three carb meals in a day. I mean I said 7 days but I did not say how many carb meals in a day, right? So anything goes wahahaha!!!

I spotted this shop on my way to Maybank. This must be their grand opening judging from the many congratulatory floral stands that they received.

  1. We have a new curry mee place here, Ama's curry! Looks good but I can't get myself to go and eat curry in the morning. Perhaps I'll drag myself there to try, like it or no. Yours looked so good even though it did not sweep you off your feet.

    1. Me too, I can't face certain food in the morning. In Terengganu, people even have satay for breakfast, I just cannot imagine!

  2. I could imagine the broth must be good. Have the prawns taste and curry taste, must be flavourful. But I prefer thicker broth. Can't find good authentic curry mee here. Used to have one but when I was younger. Thicker broth, chicken drumstick with yellow noodle. Yum yum. Now no more. Pity.

    1. I definitely would appreciate thicker and more lemak broth. But apparently this is the style.

  3. I am not very particular about curry Mee so as long as taste ok, is fine with me. I also cannot decide whether I like lemak or non lemak curry Mee because both are ok for me. Hahahaha I am so nonchalant about curry Mee. The oriental Kopitiam curry Mee also I won't order again so I think not ordering it again like you said here would mean it is not addictive. Will you go eat char kway teow?

    1. LOL! For me, the gold standard is Annie 1's curry mee since I have not had that many curry mee from many places. No char koay teow for me for now.

  4. Both the curry mee and ice white coffee look good. If the taste is good, then it is ok with me but I will prefer the broth to be thick and lemak.

    1. Looks good but taste could be better. I too prefer broth that is thicker and more lemak. But apparently Hainan style is like that.

  5. I think Hainanese curry is like that...more light tasting (that's why I try not to order their version as thin broth and not lemak is not the curry mee for me). This one also looked like it's more curry powder and lacking that reddish oil/colour. What a wasted effort that you have to put carbs into your body but did not derive pleasure in its taste. >_<

    1. Ah, I learnt something new from you. You are more knowledgeable about curry mee obviously hee..hee... Now that you mentioned it, the broth did have a prominent curry powder taste. No doubt a waste but curiosity satisfied.
