We are nearing the end of 2022 and I decided to end 2022 with a bang by having my last carb bash and feeling awful so that I can start a carnivorous 2023 with more conviction and renewed vigor.
I started my day with an eye test at a nearby optician. My previous optician Arthur's Eye Care Centre is in SS 2 and it is not convenient to swing by.
Besides parking is a nightmare at SS 2. I had been going to Arthur's Eye Care Center since my secondary school days (imagine how old Arthur is now). It is time to visit an optometrist who uses current technology to perform eye examinations.
After I was done, I decided to go for an early lunch. What (carbs) to eat, eh? Well, after reading about various ways to eat chee cheong fun and good reviews about the chee cheong fun here and reading about the same place earlier, that's where I headed.
Feeling adventurous, I ordered the ice Milo+Kopi (ah hah! That's what MK stands for). The lady asked if I wanted normal or less sweet and of course I selected less sweet. But alas, when I took a sip, alamak! It was so so sweet! Imagine what the regular is like.
Then due to the favorable review here I ordered the Chee Cheong Fun (Set). This chee cheong fan comes with fuchok and fuchok roll. I have not eaten chee cheong fan in a long time. The last time was back in 2017 at Annie 1.
So I mixed the whole lot up and took a bite. Oh dear God. It was super super sweet! Is it me or is the sweet sauce memang very sweet? Flavor wise it was good but the cloying sweet taste really spoiled it for me. I can imagine my insulin level shooting up the roof!
This might be all right for the rest of you but what I know is that I cannot eat this anymore. But surprisingly I did not suffer from a carb crash the whole afternoon. Maybe the kopi kept me awake? I don't know. So one carb temptation struck off my list and curiosity about kopi+Milo fully satisfied.
We usually order cham which is coffee mix with tea or hainan tea which is more tea and less coffee but still is a mixture of tea and coffee. Have you tried cham or hainan tea before? Long time I didn't eat ccf already ever since my spouse removed noodles and rice from his food list because there is no one to share with me but I am binging on pineapple tarts that are now being sold for CNY! Lolx! ๐๐๐คค
ReplyDeleteYes, I have tried cham before without knowing what it was LOL! It was nice tasting. Wah got pineapple tart already! Just enjoy yourself :)
DeleteAha! Noti girl ate everything like nobody's business. Well the 2022 is ending and put everything behind to look forward to a better year ahead with more conviction and renewed vigor! I will follow your goals.
ReplyDeletehee..hee..hee.. I have been having cheat meals but must stop already! My goal is to get healthier mentally and physically. I also want to read more books!
DeleteThis CCF is not alright for me either. CCF sweet sauce is supposed to be sweet...but not sickly sweet....and you don't pour a bucket of sauce over the CCF. You only need a drizzle, some places would provide it on the side. I saw this CCF on her blog too and it looked terrible to me (not sure why you would want to try it...lol!) >.< Good CCF can only be had at hawker stalls in traditional coffee shops or CCF specialists. I really don't know how you managed to finish the sickly sweet CCF and equally super sweet MK Ping (never liked Milo to begin with as it's already sweet kosong). You may just have your year's quota on sugar fulfilled in one meal....wakakakaka! Haiz, wasted carbs that you had to ingest (especially when carbs is a cheat meal you want to enjoy thoroughly)! >_<
ReplyDeleteAdoi! They are obviously strong handed with the sweet sauce, there was so much of it! I should have known better not to mix everything together like that. I only managed half of the MK Ping but somehow managed to finish the CCF. I have been eating carbs and today is the last one LOL!
DeleteForgive us for we have sinned! They opened a new sandwich and burger franchise here and I had a BIG glass of mango peach. Have to stay away from sugar for a while now! Your CCF looks good. I sure wouldn't mind that!
ReplyDeletehah..hah... Mango peach sounds like a very thirst quenching drink!
DeleteThe colour of the sweet sauce looked like darker than the usual one, and I think they put too much too. >_<
ReplyDeleteYes, too much and I should not have mixed everything in at one go. Should have tasted it first >.<
