As what we always do on Saturdays, we went to the home to visit dad. It was very quiet on the road and at the facility.
My (married) brother turned up with his two children. My nephew has graduated and is now working. My niece is still studying. The pretty girl carried a very cute handbag.
After the visit, we dropped by Kar Hiong but the menu that day was a set menu which did not suit us. So we left and I suggested that we try La Juiceria Superfoods which was just a few doors away. I was later to regret my recommendation.
Ordering is via QR code which is very tedious when there are many items on the menu. On top of that, each item has detailed description and variations. It took me quite some time to complete the order.
This was our order.
Service was super slow even though there were only two tables occupied when we were there. Of course the restaurant also takes delivery orders.
My brother and mum had the Keto Nonya Laksa Goreng with Teriyaki Chicken Thigh. I did not realize that the laksa goreng already comes with chicken. So I add on chicken, so mum and brother had double portions of protein.
This was my Keto Bowl which is cauliflower fried rice with add on of Fried Lemongrass Chicken Thigh. This did not taste as good as the ones I have had at other outlets. No wok hei at all. And the chicken was dry.
Anyway, I thought I was being well behaved, no carbs.
He had one portion and offered the other half to me. I was quite stuffed after eating the Keto Bowl but I managed to eat 3/4 of the wrap.
The chicken breast was surprisingly tender and moist. This wrap I would definitely enjoy had I not been too full. I also helped mum finish her extra order of Teriyaki chicken.
The coffee came with a complimentary tumbler of chlorophyll (surprisingly I could spell this at first attempt. Hah!) water. It was neutral tasting to me.
I must be honest that I did not enjoy this La Juiceria meal as it wasn't well executed. I have enjoyed many tasty La Juiceria meals here, here (when they used to be known as Goodness Greens) and here and via GrabFood.
So I felt bad for my brother and my mum (she told me it was bo ho chiak - not good to eat).
Well, at least we tested this Subang Jaya outlet. Next week it is back to Kar Hiong.
My brother paid for this meal using GrabPay and enjoyed the GrabFood Dine-In discount.
90% of the contents were still intact and that is an indicator as to the sentiments about these cookies.
I popped one into my mouth. It was not too sweet, very crunchy/crumbly and melt-in-your-mouth. As for the taste/aroma, my brother said it was porkie but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
