Well, well. I did not expect that I would revisit Dave's Deli after my experience back in 2018 here and here.
The fact that they are still standing (after 6 years) made me wonder, why and how?
Last week, my brother mentioned that he ordered Dave Deli's roast chicken via food delivery and it was very good. Mum also attested that the chicken was delicious and she enjoyed the coleslaw. Hmmm... that got me curious.
Since I was there for the roast chicken, I ordered half chicken with two sides - coleslaw and roasted vegetables. I also ordered a Latte.
Ah! My roasted half chicken with gravy, roasted vegetables and coleslaw. As you can see, the roasted vegetables comprise almost entirely of carrots.
Only one floret of broccoli, one piece of red pepper, two cherry tomatoes and two small pieces of onion. But at least the carrots and other veggies were tender.
Now, moment of truth. Yes, the chicken was good, moist and the skin was very tasty. I also liked the accompanying gravy. The coleslaw was also good.
As for the coffee, it was all right, not as good as coffee I have had elsewhere.
I was very forgetful and did not check my Grab app for the Dine-Out discount. The staff did not even mention anything.
At least the cashier at La Juiceria Superfoods alerted my brother last Saturday about the discount when we dined there. So I missed out on the 15% discount >.<
Well, the experience I had was a far cry from what it was 6 years ago. A major improvement. Would I come back? Sure, why not.
After the meal, as usual, I went to jalan-jalan.
It is very useful for storing my bacteria, I mean my Lactobacillus Reuteri cultured dairy heh..heh...
Wah, good discount for the glass lock container π«
ReplyDeleteI also buy things because of tng promo n discount.
So good of you to give Dave Deli another chance based on your mother and brother's review.
Hahahaha, I am now in uptown but couldn't eat everything you said is nice because my tummy is too small π π
Oh! I wonder what you had at Uptown? hee..hee..
DeleteYou must be lured by the pineapple in Ong Lai Hawaiian Chicken. I like both coleslaw and roasted vegetables too and I also love my roasted vegetables in western set well cooked and tender. Ah so this meal was almost 100% satisfying for you since the roasted chicken was tasty with tender skin and nice gravy.
ReplyDeleteSo cute lah you. I was amused that you ended up with a glass container from Popular Book Store LOL! I would have given in to the temptation of buying book(s) hah hah! But it was a really good deal since it was such a good product with all the specifications.
Yes, you knew I was attracted to the ong lai LOL! That container was put to good use this morning to store my cultured dairy. So happy!
DeleteI had eaten Dave Deli's roast chicken (a long time ago) and thought it was good especially the gravy. Glad to hear that their standards are back. To call that roasted vegetables when there's just carrots is disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteThey better maintain their standards! And they must improve on the roasted veggies or change description to roasted carrots. LOL!
DeleteIt's been years since I last ate at Dave's Deli. I remember their lunch promotions, like a 20% discount, which we used to enjoy. However, when they discontinued the promotion, the prices felt too high for the quality of the food, so my colleagues and I stopped going.
ReplyDeleteI hope that they will resume those attractive discounts. But right now, if wanna enjoy discount, just use the Grab dine-out promo.
DeleteMe too love to buy glass lock containers & also insulated food containers. I have about 6 or 7 glass lock containers & 6 insulated food containers (Thermos, Zojirushi). Insulated food containers are good for me to cook ling chee kang soup, porridge (by using heat from boiling hot water) in office. Just pour boiling hot water & after 4 hours (lunch time) & the porridge is ready.
ReplyDeleteAh, you too! Yes, those insulated food containers are very practical. I have an insulated pot which is so useful.
DeleteI prefer roasted chicken with crispy skin and don't like to put gravy on it, so Dave's Deli not my choice. :P
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for crispy skin, then this is not the one for you >.<
