Last Saturday, my brother called the shots at Kar Hiong. I was only too happy to have him choose the dishes.
My brother is clearly smitten with the Paku Belacan. Kar Hiong does it so beautifully.
Since we all love belacan so much, my brother ordered another belacan veggie dish - Kangkung Belacan.
Just like previous visits, we waited for quite a while for the proteins.
This is the Crispy Pork Belly which was very tasty. At first glance it looked very much like glazed cornflakes.
I don't know what was going on with my stomach, I felt like I could eat more. Oh dear! The belacan dishes must have over stimulated my appetite LOL!
Well, I did go for a coffee and nyum nyum. That's in my next post!
Ah, it is ok to eat rice once in a while. Erh, did I assume correctly that you did eat rice with these delicious 😋🤤 dishes? Ah, I need to go Kar hiong again to order the dong choy carp fish! 🤞
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not eat rice hah..hah...
DeleteWow! Good 👍 that you didn't eat rice 🍚
DeleteI love Kang kung belacan too! Not sure about Paku as from the look of it I don't think I had eaten that before. Are the crispy pork belly ok? Sometimes skeptical about ordering deep fried food as afraid that it maybe over fried until too hard to eat and not nice. Have a yummy and good day ahead!
ReplyDeleteThe crispy pork belly was very good, not hard at all. It was sweet and very crispy. I actually had a bad day today but all is good now. LOL!
DeleteSlurps! Make me craving lol. A very balanced meal with veggies and proteins.
DeleteAh... now I can clearly see the Dong Choy which was slightly deep fried.
ReplyDeleteYes, deep fried and very crispy.
DeleteWhen you said paku belacan, I thought to myself that's kangkung...only to release it's the next photo...haha! So they have toong choy and choy poh steamed fish...which do you like better? ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, I think both are very good, but I only focus on the fish and not the toppings. LOL!
