A few weeks ago, I went to Red Kettle at The Starling to try one of the dishes from their Chinese New Year Specials menu.

The only thing suitable for me (low carb) is the BBQ Sesame Hawberry Pork Ribs.
Hmmm.... the meat sadly was dry. The BBQ sauce was reminiscent of Lee Kum Kee Oriental BBQ Sauce. So no, I did not enjoy these BBQ ribs.
Ah Boi is such a friendly girl. Even let your dunno how far away neighbours put a collar on her, right?
ReplyDeleteThis year I didn't try any food from red Kettle cny menu. Just a cold brew pineapple coffee which I believe is from their cny menu.
It is quite a common flaw in heavily marinated ribs. They tend to be dry inside. I guess the seller expects the moisture to be from the gravy π€¦♀️which is a no no no
Ah Boi is very sweet, she will come when her name is called. I suspect the ribs were not popular and I ate leftovers.
DeleteYes, ribs tend to be dry unless got a bit of fats. Just like the bkt pork ribs I had today at S$14 for ala carte.
ReplyDeleteI must go eat BKT one of these days!
DeleteYes, there will be hits and misses when we try out new outlets or new food in a menu when we dine out.
ReplyDeleteVery true!
DeleteHi Boi! Happy to see your update.
ReplyDeleteAh Boi says hi back!
Deletehaha...ah boi is so manja! i usually stick to ordering the same item when I found it nice. Hardly being 'adventurous' unless got recommendation from trusted source...lol!
ReplyDeleteOnce-in-a-blue-moon i might be adventurous, but would be prepared (from being disappointed).
Ah Boi is very sweet but likes to bite >.< Me too, I tend to order the same things which I know are safe.
DeleteMe three! My Buddy Jose is the more adventurous one while I am the play safe type and tend to order the same one same one which I like though at times I am tempted to try out new food.
DeleteAs far as I know, Hawberry tastes sour, did you taste any sourness on the ribs?
ReplyDeleteIt was sweet and sour.
