A Revisit To Twins Signature Roast Duck, Damansara Utama

Well, well. My blogger friend, Kris of Eat What Eat Where finally visited Twins Signature Roast Duck, Damansara Utama with her family.

And the only thing that she enjoyed was the iced Kopi C Kosong. Adoi ... this does not bode well for my favorite (well, to be fair it's the only one in the area) roast duck joint. So I had to go back and check things out.

I have not been visiting that frequently of late due to quality inconsistencies (which resulted in a less than stellar experience for Kris). Even my favorite Kopi C became a casualty of inconsistent preparation.

This Kopi C Ais Kosong did not have enough milk and was nowhere near their usual standards (that also happened on a not so recent visit). But I can still enjoy this coffee, it's more like a Kopi O-but-not-quite.

Now, my usual order of half a duck. The skin was crispy but not super duper crispy. Quite honestly I am not too picky about the skin being crispy because what I look forward to is well marinated, tender and succulent meat. And that was what I got. So I was happy.

There were occasions in the past where the duck was on the dry side and not up to their usual standards.

The following week, I came back. The Kopi C was still not what I had come to expect but it was better than the one I had the week prior. Hmmm... not picky about duck skin but picky about the kopi hah..hah..hah...

This time I went for the Triple Combo of roast duck, siew yoke and char siew.

Portion size has shrunk compared to when I had this the very first time.

The roast duck was fine, no complaints. So was the siew yoke which had crispy skin and the meat had enough fats, the way I love my meats. But the char siew was not so great because I got a few hard pieces although I did get some fatty pieces in between.

This is their default sauce for the roast duck which I love but try not to take too much because it is sweet. My brother loves this sauce and I have seen him drinking it at the end of the meal hee..hee...

Well, I shall be back from time to time when the roast duck craving hits. This may not be the best roast duck in town but it's good enough for me (my standards are not that high LOL!). And hopefully on my next visit, it is on a day when they get their roasts spot on.

  1. I just had Char Siew rice for two days consecutively and they were good, no complaint (I have no money to eat roast duck hah hah hah but I have money to eat fish maw wahahaha). Probably you frequented this outlet because the location was convenient for you?

    1. How nice! I used to love char siew more than siew yoke but now it is the opposite. Yes, this restaurant is very near my work place.

  3. It must be difficult to keep the quality consistent. I am similar to you, not very particular. As long as it is not very teruk then is ok with me.

    1. I do hope that the bosses keep an eye on how their meats are roasted because it is important that customers (especially first timers who could potentially become regulars) get a good experience.

  5. Lol...I'm glad I've not put a damper on your favourite duck place. Actually, it's still a pretty decent place for roasted meats, just that my family have higher standards for food that comes with a pricier price tag.

    1. hah..hah... I still enjoy the duck and yes, I am aware that you and your family have higher standards and the opportunity to try food from many other places. Unlike me who is not as adventurous when it comes to venturing further out for meals.
