Chop! Chop! Taking A Break From Carbs

OK. OK. I have to take a short carbo break. Cannot tahan

Yesterday I could not update my blog because there was thunder and lighting. Many years ago my computer was hit. Not once but twice. So I do not take any risk when I hear thunder.

So. Saturday after makan (which some people think is not carbohy-draty enough hah..hah...) I went to Jaya Grocer and found this.

These days this is what I aim for, I cannot afford to continue to buy ribeye or sirloin steaks. The Jaya Grocer beef trimmings are of a higher quality and not too fatty. They come in long thin strips and I just need to cut them into smaller pieces.

Then I simply simply toss them with All Seasoned Salt. Then I went to my garden to get some limau purut leaves. So convenient!

This time I did not line the air fryer basket (only the outer basket was lined) because it results in much better browning due to the air circulation (which is hampered when the basket is lined).

After that I line the beef trimmings on top of the limau purut leaves.

Air fry for 8 minutes at 200C.

It is not browned yet, so I just kacau-kacau the meat and continued to air fry.

This air fryer is now the most frequently used appliance in my kitchen. So useful!

There you go. All browned and crispy. Even the daun limau purut becomes crispy. Yes, it can be eaten.

The excess fats and drippings are all at the bottom of the air fryer. I just need to wait for it to cool down and carefully remove the aluminium foil and discard the drippings. This way the bottom of the air fryer is clean (though sometimes some of the liquid may spill over a bit).

As for the inner basket, cleaning is easy. I pour hot water over it in the sink and then wash it with regular detergent.

Lunch kautim!

This was dinner using the second packet of beef. This time I lined the air fryer basket with sliced onions.

This is the glamour shot of lunch.

By the way, has anyone watched the movie The Menu? I quite enjoyed it. What is it about? Well, my short description would be "a fine dining experience that ends with the chefs, diners and even the whole restaurant becoming part of the ingredients of the grand finale dessert". Very satirical and very sinister.

  1. Yes, best not to go online when the weather is bad. Happened to me before - did not feel anything but I switched it off anyway. Later when I switched it on again, I found that there was some damage done to my computer. Guy said it was lightning! Thank goodness it did not blow up or explode!!!

    1. I learnt my lesson, twice! The worst thing is to get both computer and router damaged, which happened in the second incident. No more!

  2. I plan to watch the movie you mentioned. You mean the air fryer is now the most frequently used, right? Now instead of not?

  3. Yes, the moment I hear thunder, I will quickly shut down my pc. Happened to me twice before. I can imagine the nice fragrant from the daun limau perut and the onions used to line the air fryer.

  5. Haha, the basket is definitely easy to be cleaned, how about the coil above? I already have no eye to see that and I once cleaned it slowly with cotton bud, very tedious I tell ya ~>_<~

    1. The coil above is very challenging. I just do my best, can't get it 100% clean. It's so oily >.<
