Fried Eggs

One of the things I eat a lot of is eggs. They are a cheaper source of protein and can be enjoyed so many ways.

I fried up a bunch of eggs using lard (collected after air frying some pork) in my wok. Amazingly the lard made my wok non-stick and I had an easy time flipping the eggs with none sticking to the bottom of the wok.

Earlier I sauteed some bacon chips (these are bits and pieces of remnants after bacon is sliced and packaged, they are much cheaper than bacon proper) and onions.

Then I sprinkled the fried eggs with the delicious sauteed bacon chips and onions.

No need to put kicap or soy sauce on the eggs.

***Kitten Updates***

Well, that very evening when the kitties went missing, I heard high pitched squeals. I thought they came from the side lane and I hurried to investigate.

I looked into the drains and along the roads but no kittens in sight. I heart dropped. A couple of hours later, the sounds came from next door!

There I found Tutu Kat under the neighbor's car. I called out to Tutu but she just ignored me. Kurang asam this girl! Ah Boi and Poodie were nowhere to be seen (or heard).

So I gave up. I didn't want to disturb my neighbor. I told myself that if the kitties are meant to live and to remain with me, they will come home somehow.

The next morning, cilaka, they still didn't come home BUT I spotted all three in my neighbor's porch. So I called out to them and Ah Boi and Poodie came close enough for me to catch them and bring them home.

Meanwhile, Tutu found her way up the tyre rim of my neighbor's four wheel drive. Alamak! I could see she was attempting to get down but she was scared.

So not wanting to waste time, I got my broom and "swept" her off the tyre. I managed to get her to come to the gate and I carried her home. Haiz!!

All is well now and so far no repeated mutiny. So here are some pictures (taken earlier) of my naughty (and cowardly) Tutu Kat.

She loves to sit on my shoes.

She also scratches and bites the shoe laces. But with that kind of face, I have no heart to scold her.

So now I have to make it a point to keep my shoes in the cabinet.

The kittens are now on wet food and are still nursing.

This is little Poodie having a go at her mama's milk bar.

  1. Agreed with you. Egg is the most common and great protein source. Awww. Your Tutu Kat is super adorable.

  2. When I saw how crisp the edges of your eggs were, I knew they were not air-fried (I tried that recently and it didn't turn out good). So, would I be right to say that 7 eggs = 1 meal (if you're having just eggs)? Although I love eggs to death, two is my limit in one sitting...more than that and it's difficult to take in (even cloying to a certain degree).

Oh dear, the stories of the kitties gave me a fright (especially Tutu Kat). Luckily, it turned out well this time (you may not be so lucky the next time). I can't imagine if your neighbour had reversed his/her car out not knowing the kitties are there! :O What did I tell you about kitties who love to climb and hide between the rim of the tyres? Lol! A stray cat in my neighbourhood gave birth a few houses away. One of her kitties found her way down the roof while the other is still up there. The poor mama looks frantic going back and forth from ground to roof every few minutes. The kitty up in the roof will squeal/cry when the mama is on the ground and vice versa (as she can only nurse one at a time). The over adventurous one on the ground may venture away and get lost (or get knocked down by the car it is hiding under) when the mama is not around. That's why it's a very dangerous time for young kittens to be outside. The only way to keep them safe (and have peace of mind) is to keep them indoors until they reach an age when they know what danger is.

    1. Oh no, not all 7 at one go LOL! At most in one sitting I can eat four eggs. The rest are for later.

Yes, so many challenges and dangers to the kitties. I was quite disappointed with Kittie Kat for not looking and bringing her kittens home. Haiz!

    2. I read online that once the kittens are older, their mother will try to chase them away after weaning them. No idea how true this is.

    3. Oh really? So far they have stuck to home and Kittie Kat is still nursing them although they are now taking solid food.

  4. Luckily you got all of them back. If your neighbour dislike cats, then they will tell you to please kindly keep your cats out of their porch. I know of neighbours telling that to their neighbours. Some neighbours even put out poisoned food for the cats because they truly hate cats.

  5. TuTu Kat liked to pose while her siblings were busy at mum's milk bar :) One male cat which made load noise in my neighbourhood was poisoned by my opposite bread delivery foreign workers from India :( which was very sad. He was a good cat.
