Blood Test Blues

Yesterday I went to collect my blood test result. I actually forgot about it until I read a blogpost where there was mention of blood glucose reading LOL!

So I quickly went to Pathlab to collect my results before they close for the day.  My readings are all within normal range except for cholesterol which is above the reference range. Knowing what I know now about cholesterol, I am not in the least bit worried.

What disturbed me instead was my C-Reactive Protein (CRP) reading. This is an inflammatory marker and a reading of below 1.0 is excellent.

Back in 2022 before I started the carnivore way of eating, my CRP reading was 1.8. At the time, I was more or less on a low carb diet (though not that strict) because I was trying to lose my MCO weight (to no avail).

Then after I started the carnivore diet (i.e eliminated carbs/processed/junk food) my reading came down to a respectable 0.8. Well, my current CRP was a shocking (well, not that shocking but sort of expected) 3.3.

I believe the elevated reading is due to frequent and excessive intake of carbs (yup, desserts at Sik Thong Ba, one too many Bursting Kaya Puffs at Yit Cha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam. You get the idea).

But never fear, a change in dietary choices will improve my CRP reading. I will do another test at the end of this year.

Last night's dinner was air fried pork belly.

And reheated pre-cooked soup. I know my meals don't look appetizing but that's how it is.

These days I hardly use cash due to the convenience of e-wallets. So I found some small money in my bedroom drawer. I might as well use the cash or else it won't move. Of course I will spare some for emergencies.

At around 9:00am+ I was already hungry and my stomach was going kronk...kronk...kronk... So I tahan until 11:ooam and went to Twins Signature Roast Duck

The two meat combo of roasted duck and siew yoke.

The siew yoke was suitably fatty, the way that I like it. Not only that, the skin was super crunchy! krup..krap..krup..krap... like that. The duck, no need to say, was superb!

As usual, I went to jalan-jalan at The Starling. Red Kettle was all decked up in red for the coming Chinese New Year. I just looked from afar and hopefully someday I can visit again.

Next door to BookXcess, a new gym is opening soon.

PWRHouse with posters of sweaty hunks and all. You will need a bunch of horses to drag me to the gym. No, no, I cannot exercise with other people (and their sweat) around.

Downstairs the Chinese New Year decorations are up and in full swing. I saw these snacks. Buy 6 free 1. CRP reading madam, CRP reading! Okok. No snacks.

    1. As long as they are within the reference range, nothing to worry about.

  4. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… I have phobia of blood tests. It has to be done every 3 weeks and it's 2 years now. Each time it was like casino gambling to see poker cards and tensed me up. You know what I mean.

Ahem!! Hear that Ah Chun Donald?? Aunty Daisy so happy with these comments:

I thought I was alone where I dislike exercising with so many sweaty camels and buffaloes after office hours. They love to run and jump with all their sweat flying and falling onto others. If you are lucky, you might even taste their sour armpit sweats like nectar!!! Aiyoh knn.

  5. Thought CRP is to check for inflammation/infection or risk of heart disease? Well, I don't know enough about CRP or what the levels indicate...but it can't be from eating just a few sugary meals you had lately, I think. Any dietary change takes time to develop in our bodies, I believe.

    1. Sugar is one of the drivers of inflammation. Of course stress and other environmental factors can do that too. I have been eating not just a few sugary meals LOL! There were many spanning 10 months (March 2023 to December 2023).

    1. LOL! For 10 months I was enjoying a lot of carbohydrates. These convert to sugar when broken down in our digestive system. I already angkat sumpah to reduce carbs.
