The Day Before The Wake

On Sunday we went to the Nirvana HQ at Sg Besi for a meeting with the bereavement coordinator.

I have not been to KL (let alone Sg Besi) in a long time. The location seemed so far away. LOL!

The Nirvana HQ lobby was just like a hotel lobby, brightly lit and did not give off "death" vibes if you know what I mean. We were met by the Nirvana agents who showed us the way upstairs to the meeting room. And oh dear, there were showroom coffins everywhere outside the meeting room.

After the discussion and confirmation of the schedule and procedures, we were brought to view dad's remains. He was dressed in the clothes that we brought that morning.

I must say that the undertakers did an excellent job. Dad looked very good. Mum and I took turns to say some finals words in his ears.

We left the premises after that and made our way back to Damansara Jaya. Since it was past 12:00 pm and a Sunday, most restaurants would be busy. So my brother suggested we go to Halla Holla (his and mum's first visit) since it was close to home.

My brother had the Smoked Salmon Concerto.

He was very pleased with his choice of sandwich.

I chose the Egg & Mushroom Croissant for mum and she clearly enjoyed her sandwich.

I was not hungry so I only had coffee.

Oh, we had extras, very typical of us hee...hee... My brother had wanted the Peach Danish but unfortunately it was not available. So I suggested the Almond Croissant. Mum wanted one as well.

But mum was so full after the sandwich that she only managed one bite of the Almond Croissant. So guess who had to finish it? LOL! Well, I couldn't finish the croissant, so half of it went uneaten. Really no appetite at all.

After we sent mum back to the house, my brother drove me home.

After a bath, I decide that I better order food in case I got hungry. There was no food in the fridge since I did not have time to prepare any. I scrolled GrabFood and either nothing caught my fancy or what I wanted was not available.

I eventually settled on this Teriyaki Beef Poke Bowl from La Jucieria Superfoods. I added a portion of Lemongrass Fried Chicken Thigh to up the protein.

Speaking of no food in the fridge, apparently I had two leftover fried eggs in a container. So I had too much extra protein.

I did get hungry eventually and embellished this meal with the two fried eggs (reheated in the air fryer).

I did not use the Teriyaki sauce that came with the meal but I did pour some chili sauce (which I accidentally bought for dad some months ago thinking it was tomato sauce).

It was a Sunday that ended well. Hopefully all goes well the next day at the wake.

  1. My late mother in law did her wake at this place too for 3 days 2 nights and I must say that their service is very good and the place is bright and looks warm. Not frightening at all. The white ladies opened the coffin ⚰️ to do touch up makeup too on day 2 to ensure everything looks fine.
I am sure they keep up their good work for you all too.
