Lockdown Day #61 : Back To Work!

See. I told you accountants are essential and their services should be classified under Essential Services.

So we accountants have now been approved by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Yes! Many thanks to the Malaysian Institute of Accountants for their initiative to bring members back to work.

I got my approval and today I went back to work. There is so much to catch up! But slowly, slowly, one step at a time. All went well and I got quite a lot of work done.

And then it was time for lunch. I ordered via Grabfood self-pick up to take advantage of the 20% discount (today last day).

The Starling was very quiet as expected.

Teochew Lor was closed and the space next to it (formerly occupied by Nene Chicken) remains vacant.

The space vacated by Teh Tarik Place has been vacant for a long, long time.

Popular Bookstore is open but I did not go there.

The ground floor where weekend bazaars are held was deathly quiet.

This is where I picked up my lunch. I was very hungry.

So sadly quiet. I wonder when things will get back to how it was before.

Anyway, time to eat.

Can't wait to dig in.

Tomyum Fried Rice and Almond Chicken.

The fried rice was kind of wet and lacked the usual wok hei aroma. But still good to eat.

The Almond Chicken is usually served with lettuce, tomatoes and some slivers of mango but I guess at a time like this, the restaurant most likely was low on stock and gave me loads of carrots and raw onions. Since I love raw onions, this was acceptable.

Since I am now back to work, this will be the last of my daily posting. So I'll see you when I see you! Keep staying safe!

  1. Tuk Tuk? Thai food? I tried that when I went to Miri, 2019.

You sure are glad to get back to work, eh? #staysafe #staywell

  2. Glad you're back to work (stay safe)...work = pay (money) = revival. I should think it'd be back to work for all come Monday. So sad to see how empty the mall is, wonder how long the shops can tahan like that. One of my neighbourhood eateries told me they can only hope for 20% business with no dine-in and she has to foot out the balance 80% cost to continue business. Dine-in and other businesses have to open soon, at least for those who have been fully vaccinated (and we need to dine-in to support them), otherwise not many will make it through these endless lockdowns. :'(

    1. I need the money! LOL! I feel very sorry for all the restaurants. My partner and I drove past the shoplots later in the evening and although there are many cars parked outside, the restaurants were all so quiet, except for a few with customers waiting to tapau.

  3. Both the tom yum fried rice and almond chicken look yummy. So sad to see the empty shop lots. Everything looks depressing. Don't know how long this gloomy situation will drag before we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

    1. Working from home can be distracting besides I prefer a separation between office and my home. If not, even when I am at home, I will feel stressed because work is at home with me hah..hah..

  8. How nice! You are back to work now. The government should have allowed your industry to work since Day 01.

I have not stepped into Starling Mall for a long time. It looks eerie and quiet with closed down outlets.

  10. I guess you are a public accountant and not a commercial accountant, this is the reason you need MITI approval but those Commercial Accountant the long time back to work already either back to office occasionally or WFH. Nevertheless it is always good to be back to office desk rather than the dinning table to work virtually. Happy Working !!!

So sad to see those eateries and of course other shops of different sectors such as beauty industry and fashion which cannot make it through during this pandemic. :(
