Covid-19 MCO : Day #40 (Eat Whatever is in the House)

Everyday I think about what to eat. Even before I eat today, I will think of what to eat tomorrow wahahahaha!!!

I wanted to get food from Mamalee but was disappointed because they are not open today.

I could have ordered from other restaurants but when I want something, I want only that thing and nothing else. So I will wait another day for Mamalee.

Then I thought about my messy fridge and messy freezer. There are some meat that I stocked up way before the MCO and half used seasonings/condiments lying around in every nook and cranny of the fridge. I need to empty out my freezer before I re-stock and reorganize my fridge and freezer.

In fact when I read about TM's two refrigerators and saw how neat they were, I was even more motivated to carry out my plan.

I took out one packet of minced beef to defrost and diced up some green capsicum. I had a half used packet of burrito seasoning in the fridge and I used that to season the beef. Then there is the truckload of pasta in my pantry.

So it became this strange fried pasta with burrito seasoning.

Not exactly delicious but can eat lah.

My Girl this morning, messing up my sofa.

The 3-seater sofa is hers again.

Today Daddy bought her this :

There are 12 packets inside.

She eats this once a day in the morning. I feed her with kibble in the evening. In between, she will ask for a snack and I give her a small amount of kibble.

I feel that she is more settled and comfortable inside the house now compared to before.

This afternoon as I was working in my study, she just quietly went into the spare room to take a snooze.

Previously whenever I am not within sight, she made a lot of noise.

Finally, this morning my partner managed to get our usual brand of eggs.

He got me these dumplings from the pork shop hee..hee.. Will eat tomorrow.

My dinner last night - soup from the freezer.

My partner's dinner with two horribly fried eggs.

My cat feeling dejected.

No soup for her.

A single Gardenia bloom in my garden.

Boyfriend paid a visit this very morning. But my Girl just turned her back and walked back into the house hah...hah... Takde mood layan.

She preferred to hangout under the coffee table. Boyfriends can be a nuisance. Sometimes. Hah!

There will be some more strange dishes in the coming days as I clear out my fridge/freezer.

  1. I decided to post about my 2 fridges after hearing friends complaining that their 1 fridge had no more space during this MCO. Seems like every house has been over buying, over cooking and hoarding until their fridges freaked out. LOLOL My wife's rich aunty has a huge monster fridge that has got 2 big doors and a huge pull out freezer at the bottom. Everything inside is a terrible mess and her other standing freezer looks exactly like a standing mortuary. Every weekend she cooked for 3-4 families to eat together and we are one of them. That's why she bought everything in big quantities.

I always bought the same eggs!! Must be Penang lang's choice or you are copy cat. Nowadays I try to buy the Big Jumbo eggs instead so that I could enjoy more. My wife developed allergy to eggs, so less man more share.

Today I realised something after looking at your cat's photos closely. I remembered hearing my sister's comments long ago the reasons she loved cats by chance when she was actually keeping rabbits since small. She was in high school in Adelaide and shared a flat with an OZ flatmate who kept a big ginger cat the size of a tiger cub. The flatmate fell in love with their garbage truck collector who happened to be very handsome and muscular. She left her cat with my sister for temporary care and moved out. My sister lived with that cat until she graduated from university, years later. She fell in love with that cat eventually because she was home alone studying exams and rushing assignments until wee hours of the many mornings. The cat was always silent and sat by her feet or on her desk watching her to keep her company until she graduated. In the end, she decided to fly the cat home much to my parent's disapproval. She went to work as waitress to earn the money to pay for her cat's air fare which was like 2 person's fare because she had to specially make a wooden cage, in those days under OZ law. She mentioned if she had a dog, it would be noisy and irritating by jumping all over the place. End of story.

    1. wow! love your sister's cats story. Good that she flew the cat home with her. Since it is so long ago, I guess the cat has crossed the rainbow bridge a long time ago?

    2. TM : The eggs are the Penang lang's choice LOL! We used to eat the Jumbo eggs too but not anymore. There was a time some years ago when I developed allergy towards eggs but just as mysteriously as it appeared, the allergy went away after a few months.

I can understand how your sister felt about her cat. I would have done the same.

  2. In my sister's pantry at home, I noticed that she often stocked many brands of cat food to spoil her cats. They are so fussy that they sometimes walked away after smelling it. They seem to love one brand from UK which is not available here and I smelled it to determine its contents but could see nothing except "Ang Moh Sai" inside. The next good brand is definitely Whiskas!

    1. Your sister's cat are so high class! Another brand that I tried is ProDiet and my cat is also OK with it. But I have since stuck to Whiskas.

  3. That looks good but I do not have any minced beef. Maybe I can use corned beef. Ya....I bought chang this morning, the ones with salted egg - the smaller ones, sold out! Now I can have something else for breakfast beside fried rice or noodles or cream crackers. OMG!!! Did you fry those eggs? ROTFLMAO!!!

  4. Your pasta looks good to me. I love to eat macaroni pasta and also capsicum and also beef so I am sure it is delicious to me but then I do not know what burrito seasoning tastes like. What does burrito seasoning taste like? What is the main taste?

    1. The taste of the burrito seasoning is predominantly cumin, not so suitable for pasta.

  5. Does the visitor cat seem hungry and need feeding? I hope he has some one who is feeding him. Good to hear Girl Girl has settled down and is comfortable in the house.

  11. All the more i look at your ah girl's photos, all the more i find her look so pretty.

  12. So, your brand of eggs is NutriPlus...and mine is LTK. I also got to eat some bak chang recently...not as tasty as my favourite one but was surprised it was quite good actually.

So, it was no use rearranging your sofas. You can't reason with cats...lol, they just do what they want to do. Looks like Ah Girl's dieting hasn't bore any results yet (I can still see a protruding tummy in the photo of her walking away). :D But continue with your efforts. Her food portions are about right...Cookie eats a similar amount...a packet or a can of wet food in the mornings and evenings and dry kibble as snacks in between...and the occasional 'tax' of cooked chicken! ;)

    1. I read that orange cats have a tendency to be fat and they love to eat. Perhaps it is genetics? hah..hah... See, she is not overfed but she still manages to put on weight. Haiz...
