Covid-19 MCO : Day #16 (Beef Garam Kunyit)

I have loads of proteins in my freezer. Some were pre-MCO and some stocked up during the MCO.

I've got one packet of chicken, many packets of oinks, two packets of prawns and four packets of beef. I need not worry about running out of meat.

Since I have got beef, I cooked Beef Garam Kunyit today. I used my good old lesung batu to pound the spice paste.

It was worth the effort.

Lunch was superb.

A serving of salad with vinaigrette.

Yesterday's soup. If I am feeling industrious, I might make some crispy fried shallots. That would give my soup the extra oomph!

This is my auntie's rock melon from her garden in NZ. How nice to harvest a rock melon from your own backyard.

I started my fatty bom bom on a diet since yesterday. One meal in the morning and another feeding in the evening. No in between snacks. So far so good, she has not complained.

I hope she can slim down.

So fat!

  1. Me too, lots of protein in the fridge, only have to go out to replenish greens once awhile.. try to minimise cooking lots, one dish with everything mixed inside will do.. hahaha... your cattie is really bom bom, same with my doggie.. needs to diet them! :)

    1. I try to minimize the cooking too. Cook bigger portions that can be stored for another day so that can relax the next day by eating leftovers.

  2. I see you're well stocked....and well prepared for the MCO. Good that you have a large freezer. I notice you eat smaller portions when you cook compared to eating out which is great. Mine is the reverse. I cook more coz my husband can eat a lot.
P/S: Hey, I just made some crispy fried shallots this morning...with the last of my 'right type' of shallots.

I'm glad that you're putting Ah Girl on a diet (especially after seeing that last photo! :D As much as we love to give our beloved food, it's for their own good. You can still give her some snacks in between but just control the portion lah. I give Cookie like 2 - 3 tsp twice..at lunch & tea time (when they put on their charm for us). His main meals are also in the mornings and evenings.

    1. For once my hoarding is a virtue hah..hah... Me eat smaller portions at home? Eerrr...wahahaha!

Late this morning she came in and wanted food. So I gave her a very small portion (about 1/4 scoop) of dry food and that little bit satisfied her.

  3. looking at pestle and mortar always fills me with nostalgia cos it reminds me instantly of sambal being made at my grandmother's house in malacca, almost forty years ago - the house has since been sold, so this will always only be a distant memory now :) a pleasant surprise that the cat is responding well to the diet - i'd be pestering you for a snack, heheh! :D

    1. Ah..certain things sure bring back memories of days gone by. Well, my cat asked for snacks today so I gave her just a little bit to satisfy her. Thankfully she was happy :)

  5. when you first met Girl Girl, was she a fatty bom bom? You can play with her and make her run to catch toys to exercise in addition to controlling her meals.

  6. The ingredients in your soup looks yummy because I like potatoes n carrots in soup. Is that raw cabbage salad? Is the beef spicy? I like to eat beef but if very spicy cannot la.

    1. Yup, raw cabbage salad. The beef is not that spicy because the red chilies were not hot.
