Naughty #9 : Ah Boy Chicken Rice

It looks like you all can tell that I love chicken rice hah..hah..hah...

This time around, I went to Golden Kimwah Restaurant, Damansara Kim

Walking into a kopitiam for lunch is one of my simple joys in life.

This is where you can find Ah Boy, a chicken rice stall.

My eyesight is not so good these days as my heart skipped a beat when I mistook those hanging chickens for ducks. On closer inspection, those were clearly not ducks.

So I approached the vendor, a young chap whose demeanor is not very congenial and ordered the Special Combination (Chicken Drumstick, Char Siew, Roasted Por, Rice (RM13.00).

There were lots of tables available as I was early. I made sure to be there by 11:00am+

I looked around and there were many stalls operating here. Among them is Robert's Char Koay Teow, a nasi lemak stall and a stall selling Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee.

There is also a wanton mee and vegetarian stall.

When I looked at the meat platter, I was not very convinced that it was something enjoyable.

Maybe because it looked messy and watery. But my fears were unfounded. First of all, Ah Boy's rice was fragrant and tasty, as what chicken rice should be.

The chicken is what you would expect at most chicken rice stalls and the siew yoke was all right.  The char siew was passable.

The soup had a good flavor (better than most I have had so far).  All in all, I rather enjoyed this chicken rice meal.

The Kopi C Ais Kosong (RM2.40) was pretty good.

As I was enjoying my chicken rice, I observed Ah Boy's assistant (just because he was right in front of me). I freaked out a little bit when he poured water from the blue pail (right had side of photo) into the big rice cooker. After that, he added more water using a pink jug.

I can't help thinking of my mopping pail at home and I guess this is the sort of thing you might expect at hawker stalls. As long as you n0-eyes-see, you would be all right.

***Kitten Updates***

Yesterday it rained cats and dogs. When I got home, none of my cats were around.

When the rain tapered off, both Kittie Kat and Girl jumped over from next door but the kitties were nowhere to be seen. Then Ah Boi appeared. Where were Poodie and TuTu?

Then I heard a kitten's cries. Tracing the sound, I saw Poodie at the opposite neighbor's car porch. So I approached and called out to her. She came to me and was promptly rescued.

As short while later, again I heard a kitten's cries and I knew that must be TuTu. At first I couldn't see her but a little while later I saw her under the rim of the opposite neighbor's car! (parked outside the gate).

So I quickly dashed over and rescued TuTu. I was relieved that my gang of kitties were now complete and safe with me. Haiz!

So far Ah Boi is the smartest of the lot. She (yes, she) does not need rescuing, always knowing how to come home.

  1. They must have gone jalan-jalan and got caught out with the rain. Hmmm...that's a lot of work for you to account for them daily (with days needing rescue). Actually, when the kitties cry, it's the job of Kittie Kat to go get them...lol. Tsk...tsk...Kittie Kat is not doing her job. P/S: So, you've confirmed Ah Boi's gender already? ;)

    1. Kittie Kat is quite hopeless. I observed that she doesn't give a hoot when the kittens are next door crying out and I have to be the one to get them. Haiz! At least now that they are older, they know how to come home from next door. I am now conveined that Ah Boi is a girl judging from her "behind" that looks exactly like Poodie's and Tutu's. LOL!

  2. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Now you have Ah Boy, Ah Chun and Donald's in your lists. I will definitely try this chicken rice with your reviews until the good soup. I often requested 2-3 bowls when soup is tasty! No photos of Ah Boy or you are waiting for me to take his photo? I will show him your blog as usual.

You will get stressed with your little Kitties as they are still very young. It is not easy but you have been a very good mummy.

    1. LOL! I dare no take photo of Ah Boy lah. He does not seem very friendly.

Yes, it can be stressful but hopefully less when they are bigger. Now my stress is arranging and looking after their mummy (and them later) after potong-potong at the vet's.

  3. Ah, glad to hear that you found another tasty chicken rice stall.

Reading your post, I remembered a sad case. There was a kitten in my opposite neighbour's house who once went into my garden. The kitten was very cute. A few days later,I saw a road kill along the road and it was that kitten, all flat and bloodied on the road. I was heart ๐Ÿ’” although it was my neighbour's kitten and not mine. Online, I have many online kind acquaintances who rescue cats and kittens and they often give advices on how to prepare for heart aches and etc. praying ๐Ÿ™ that all fur kids will be safe and sound and not bloodied kucing penyet on the road. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

    1. That's so sad and horrifying! That poor kitten. I worry about my kitties too but I just have to have faith that they will be OK.

  4. I always avoid to go to the washroom of a restaurant because normally it is located near the kitchen where you can see all the "things" that you don't want to see, =.="

    1. Yes, so as long as they eyes didn't see, then OK. Or else will forever lose appetite.
