Kai See Hor Fun

Sometimes when I see someone eat something, I was to eat that something too. Monkey see, monkey do.

Oh ya, I have a friend who is a hantu kai see hor fun, you know who you are hee..hee..hee...

Then one morning, I came upon this article online where Yitcha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam, Damansara Utama was mentioned.

Well, although I am not crazy about kai see hor fun, I will have it from time to time when the mood hits me. So with that I thought why not I hop over to Yitcha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam and check out their kai see hor fun (and have a pastry or two).

This is their Kaya Butter Puff. Yes, only one pastry, I was rather well behaved. I kept this till after my main meal.

There you go, the kai see hor fun.

I am no expert on kai see hor fun. So I can only say if I liked it or not.

The broth had a prawny taste as it should be. No complaints from me. I liked this kai see hor fun. Nice!

That is my Kopi C, no sugar. Very potent. Until I couldn't sleep that night >.< Fortunately it was Friday night. My partner was snoring away while my eyes were still kelip-kelip past midnight. Haiz!

There were no prawns in the bowl and the add on option was shredded chicken. So I didn't add anything.

And now dessert.

I must say that this Butter Kaya Puff was quite good. The pastry was flaky and the kaya was very lemak but a tad sweet.

I had to squeeze the pastry to show you the kaya.

I was digging into my handbag when I noticed that they do provide tissue paper from that mail-box thingy on the wall.

That was a nice lunch and I reckon that the best kai see hor fun is the one that you love and enjoy having again and again. Your best may not be someone else's best and vice versa.

Meanwhile at The Starling I saw a long queue at Machines.

I wondered why? Maybe there was a new product launch.

As I am writing this post, my heart is heavy because my dad is again back at the hospital. This morning my mum and my brother accompanied him for a follow-up and his old problem came back. He was rushed to the emergency room. Just as we thought he was doing all right for the past three weeks, we are back to square one. All I can do is pray.

  1. I like Kai see hor fun. But not easily found over here. If craving, need to go to those franchise outlet like Kluang Station.

  4. I love kai see hor fun but we can't get it here. I guess it's Cantonese and Sibu is a Foochow town. I go for it at places like Pappa Rich. Hope your father is doing all right now, may God bless him and all of you too with strength to get through all this.

  5. I love kai si hor fun but have since stopped eating kai si hor fun for some time probably because of my taste buds after chemo treatment. Maybe one of these days, I may try to see if I can still enjoy my favourite kai si hor fun again. I can see that the kaya is very nice and yummy. May peace and strength be with you and family through this difficult time. Hope your day recovers and can be discharged from the hospital soon.

  6. I'm not a fan of kai see hor fun, too bland for me. But once in a while when wanting to have something with subtle flavor, then I will go for it. Hope your father is doing well.

  7. I'm wondering who is that "hantu kshf" you're referring to...kekeke! ;) Eh, how come your kshf is missing the prawns? No prawns, not so syiok lah! Other than that, this bowl of kshf should be sufficiently decent tasting seeing the colour of the prawn oil on the broth. P/S: I would rather just use my own tissues than to haveto lean over someone to get the free ones...lol! :D **Prayers for your dad**
