Covid-19 MCO : Day #87 (First Solo Dine In)

Yesterday I was craving thinking of Soylab@Damansara Uptown. I walked past a few days ago and saw people dining in. I want!

I miss the soybean desserts and drinks. So I bravely walked to Soylab to satisfy my craving. I was concerned if there might not be any seats for me seeing that this is a very popular place.

But my fears were unfounded. It was after all a weekday afternoon (past 2:00pm) and we are still under RMCO. Understandably business is on the slow side.

When I got to the counter, I was requested to scan the Selangkah QR code, had my temperature taken and asked to sanitize my hands. Then only was my order taken.

I had the Glutinous Rice Ball Beancurd and Bean Looking For Her. Wah...so nice having this after so many months!

There were only three tables occupied and I saw stickers on the floor indicating that one table seats only three. It was a very pleasant outing for me. I like Soylab because the staff are always polite and efficient. Besides the place is very neat and cosy, this time with added advantage of not having so many people.

Then I went jalan-jalan and noticed this Energy Bagua Wellness Center. This must be new, I have not seen it before.

The landscape in Damansara Uptown changes very fast. It looks like the bubble has burst for Ji Long Tang as its shoplot is now taken over by Inside Ipoh. So fast!

In the case of Nuromen, the cow has indeed been put to pasture. The shoplot is now taken over by Restoran One One One (the coffee shop beside it). While one business closes, another expands. Amazing.

Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee is still standing strong. Although I find their Hokkien Mee too oily and not to my liking, apparently many people are of a different opinion.

Thai Boy Street Food  (in between Chicken Pot and Big Big Wantan) folded up way before the MCO.

This is the other Teo Chew Lor (in between Cash Converters and Kedai Kopi Malaya) outside the Starling Mall. I noticed from their signboard that the have Kway Chap. I have been wanting to try that.

Elsewhere, I saw this stall parked behind a coffee shop.

A Chicken Chop A Day Keeps Doctors Away hah..hah..hah...

  2. With the social distancing being implemented, the ambiance is more pleasant, not so crowded. Wah, so many shops are replaced. The kway chap at Teo Chew Lor I have eaten a few times. The mix innards given are ok and the gravy soup is ok but the noodles are not exactly authentic kway chap noodles.

  6. So far I have not come across a place here where they have called it a day - just one but it's because their business has not been that great even before COVID-19 and their outlets in Kuching are doing well...and they are opening a branch in Bintulu. Two young gays, I mean, guys...very enterprising!

  10. Hope business will pick up during this RMCO and after that... many were affected by this lockdown and being jobless cos it includes one of my family members as well. Since that Japanese dinner, I have not eaten out after that, only tau pau mostly.

  15. Ah, tau fu fah in its traditional form, with brown sugar, is still the best...hehe! ;) I noticed the ones that can't survive are usually the newer ones...coz they're just starting out and haven't made enough money to keep in their cash reserves yet. >.<

    1. I am starting to appreciate the ones with brown sugar. You are right, cash is crucial to get things going.
