Yesterday I was craving thinking of Soylab@Damansara Uptown. I walked past a few days ago and saw people dining in. I want!
I miss the soybean desserts and drinks. So I bravely walked to Soylab to satisfy my craving. I was concerned if there might not be any seats for me seeing that this is a very popular place.
But my fears were unfounded. It was after all a weekday afternoon (past 2:00pm) and we are still under RMCO. Understandably business is on the slow side.
When I got to the counter, I was requested to scan the Selangkah QR code, had my temperature taken and asked to sanitize my hands. Then only was my order taken.
I had the Glutinous Rice Ball Beancurd and Bean Looking For Her. Wah...so nice having this after so many months!
There were only three tables occupied and I saw stickers on the floor indicating that one table seats only three. It was a very pleasant outing for me. I like Soylab because the staff are always polite and efficient. Besides the place is very neat and cosy, this time with added advantage of not having so many people.
Then I went jalan-jalan and noticed this Energy Bagua Wellness Center. This must be new, I have not seen it before.
The landscape in Damansara Uptown changes very fast. It looks like the bubble has burst for Ji Long Tang as its shoplot is now taken over by Inside Ipoh. So fast!
In the case of Nuromen, the cow has indeed been put to pasture. The shoplot is now taken over by Restoran One One One (the coffee shop beside it). While one business closes, another expands. Amazing.
Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee is still standing strong. Although I find their Hokkien Mee too oily and not to my liking, apparently many people are of a different opinion.
Thai Boy Street Food (in between Chicken Pot and Big Big Wantan) folded up way before the MCO.
This is the other Teo Chew Lor (in between Cash Converters and Kedai Kopi Malaya) outside the Starling Mall. I noticed from their signboard that the have Kway Chap. I have been wanting to try that.
Elsewhere, I saw this stall parked behind a coffee shop.
A Chicken Chop A Day Keeps Doctors Away hah..hah..hah...
Wah, you are fast today! Yay! You dined in at Soylab. Very good! So do you prefer Soylab to Tono?
ReplyDeleteCan't decide yet. must dine-in at Tono first.
DeleteWith the social distancing being implemented, the ambiance is more pleasant, not so crowded. Wah, so many shops are replaced. The kway chap at Teo Chew Lor I have eaten a few times. The mix innards given are ok and the gravy soup is ok but the noodles are not exactly authentic kway chap noodles.
ReplyDeleteI must go and eat the kway chap soon while there is not many people.
DeleteOops typo! Chicken chop not chicken shop! Wonder if this stall is open during rmco.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I already corrected. Not sure if this stall is operating yet.
DeleteWah, so nice you can go jln jln around uptown. I don't think I will be going there until next year. ☹️
ReplyDeleteThat's a long wait :)
DeleteYour soy desserts feast definitely looked good! Makes me craving for it now!
ReplyDeleteI was happy I satisfied my craving!
DeleteSo far I have not come across a place here where they have called it a day - just one but it's because their business has not been that great even before COVID-19 and their outlets in Kuching are doing well...and they are opening a branch in Bintulu. Two young gays, I mean, guys...very enterprising!
ReplyDeleteI hope they do well in Bintulu.

ReplyDeleteAh, I remember what I cannot tahan the sweetness. Kit Kat! I bought Kit Kat normal ones and gave them away because I cannot tahan the sweetness! Sorry, not related to your this post. 😊kit Kat chocolate wafers. Cos I haven't tried the kit Kat ice cream stick yet.
ReplyDeleteI have eaten Kit Kat before and found them all right, not too sweet. Maybe must eat again hah..hah... The Kit Kat that I cannot tahan is the sake flavor one from Japan. It was super sweet!
DeleteHahahaha we are the opposite. I find normal kit Kat too sweet but the sake flavour kit Kat to be very very nice. I think I just like liquer. Don't you like liquer?
Deleteso fast! I want to have taufufah too!!!
ReplyDeleteGo for it!
DeleteHope business will pick up during this RMCO and after that... many were affected by this lockdown and being jobless cos it includes one of my family members as well. Since that Japanese dinner, I have not eaten out after that, only tau pau mostly.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear that. I see at the mall that people are starting to come back and are eating at the restaurants.
DeleteAfter so long, feel good to dine in and enjoy the food you miss, right?? The dessert looked good, I would like it.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I like that chicken chop quote. Funny.
Right! Felt good. I must go try that chicken chop once the guy reopens for business hah..hah..
DeleteDelicious soya bean curd. I must go check out whether any of the soya bean curd stall in our area is open for business. Today hubby and I dined-in at the food court for lunch.
ReplyDeleteHow nice! I miss going to the foodcourt.
Deletea chicken chop a day will only keep the chickens away! :D
ReplyDeleteLOL! That makes prefect sense!
DeleteI'm still a bit nervous about dining in. I prefer al fresco seating.
ReplyDeleteI was too but so far the restaurants exercised proper social distancing measures.
DeleteAh, tau fu fah in its traditional form, with brown sugar, is still the best...hehe! ;) I noticed the ones that can't survive are usually the newer ones...coz they're just starting out and haven't made enough money to keep in their cash reserves yet. >.<
ReplyDeleteI am starting to appreciate the ones with brown sugar. You are right, cash is crucial to get things going.
DeleteThe dessert looks so good. I must hv my taufufah fix again.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to eat your taifufah!
DeleteTaufufah
