Eatomo@Publika

Finally, I get to visit Eatomo with my brother. After ordering food from Eatomo via Grabfood, I wanted to experience dining at the restaurant.

My brother suggested visiting this outlet because he wanted to survey another restaurant at Publika

This was our maiden visit to Publika. Jakun or what?

So there we were. As usual, we are always early when visiting eateries to avoid the crowd (if any). It was a quiet day and only one other table was occupied.

The restaurant is quite small and ordering is easy, done via order chits.

Our drinks - Ice Lemon Tea (RM8.90) and Classic Lemonade  (RM8.90)- because there was no coffee.

Actually, there is coffee, Vietnamese drip coffee. Not our kind of coffee.

For sharing - Chipirones (Fried Baby Calamari)(RM21.90).

It was very crunchy and tasty but my brother commented that there was not enough calamari content.

This is my brother's California Poke Bowl (RM31.90) with double sashimi. Looks so good compared to the one I ordered via delivery. Portion was a lot more too.

So miserable, right? And it was supposed to be double portion too. Cheh! No more ordering via delivery.

Haiz...next time I want the California Poke Bowl!

And of course I had to taste the Wok Fired Spicy Gyutandon  (RM36.90) (with double gyutandon). Oh my! It was so so good and guess what?

The portion size was double what I got via delivery (which was supposed to be double gyutandon), even the rice. Cheh! Feel so cheated. But I can't compare like that because the delivery was ordered from the Bangsar outlet.

I took a peek at the staff packing Grabfood orders and I noted the content of the plastic tubs was a lot more than what I got from Bangsar. My brother told me to next time choose the Publika outlet for delivery and test if that was the case hah..hah..

So coming back to my fabulous order of gyutandon, the portion was so generous that I was very satisfied. We checked the menu for desserts but did not find anything that tickled our fancy.

Well, this makan was for my brother's belated birthday lunch as his birthday happened after the start of the MCO. I was happy with my Eatomo experience and I look forwards to coming back.

By the way, this was the restaurant my brother wanted to check out. More on that later!

  1. Beef tongue? Anything like pig's tongue! I like pig'e tongue, never had the cow's ones before. Yes, your delivered poke bowl looked like somebody's leftovers. I would complain, get my money back! Belated birthday greetings to your brother.

  2. Happy belated birthday to your brother. Nice of him to take you to publika. Yes, please order grab from this publika Eatomo to test the portion size. Good that this trip satisfied your stomach and the food is good. Good to read your post today. Thought no more posts to read from you since you say no more daily post.

    1. Thank you! I will be posting from time to time, just not daily. I want to go back to Publika since there are so many restaurants within the vicinity.

  4. Glad you had a good dine-in experience...and that it'll become one of your regular restaurants as it is mine :) Hmmm, just as I thought...I felt the portions weren't as small during dine-in than via delivery and I don't think it has to do with the branch we order from (coz mine came from Ampang and the portions were smallish too). I think it'll probably be the same irrespective of the branch we order from since they have to share the profits with the delivery partners and also because of the promotions (and discounts) they offer.

The portions at this branch look bigger due to the plate they use, I think, which is much bigger than the Japanese-style bowls they use in Bangsar...but I like the ambience and tableware they use in Bangsar (& Taman Desa) as it has a more Japanese feel to it which I like when I'm eating Japanese...lol. From the pics I see a difference in the use of lesser amounts of condiments (like chillies, garlic, spring onions & coriander) in the calamari & gyutandon dishes. Maybe you can try the other two branches when you next dine out at Eatomo to see which offers you the best taste and experience. P/S: Just to share some info on Texas BBQ, they offer up to 50% discount on Eatigo, so you might want to reconsider or read up more reviews (as my past experience tells me that most of those which offer Eatigo discounts don't usually measure up especially when the discount is so massive)...but judging from your last sentence, you might have already dined there? ;P

    1. If Eatomo opened a branch at The Starling, I will be there every other day hah..hah... I thought it was psychological too, the servings on the plate but my stomach tells me otherwise. I was quite hungry when we got there and I did not have much of the calamari before my gyutandon was served. I was very satiated and I won't say the portion is small. Perhaps I can suggest to my brother that we swing by the Bangsar branch next.

Thanks for the tip. My brother told me he read mixed reviews and we just have to judge for ourselves. No. we have not dined there yet but my brother tapau the smoked chicken and brisket. He told me the brisket was good but said nothing about the chicken.

    1. Hello! Long time no see! Walking in aimless circles? My brother and I were a bit lost there. We have to get used to the place, found it a bit confusing.

  7. I saw Eatomo during my searching for food delivery last weekend, but I found the price were not cheap so I think it's better to try their food for dine in.

    1. Seeing that the dine-in portions are bigger, not worth ordering delivery.
