Broccoli Slaw

Finally I was brave enough to eat raw broccoli. Yeah, RAW. The trick is to cut it up really small to make it easier to eat. But still ..............

I took one tiny floret and chewed it. Bleagh! Never mind. It might taste better once mixed with mayonnaise and eaten with the rest of the ingredients.

I used a small head of broccoli, one carrot, one red onion and some dried cranberries. As for the mayonnaise, I used my homemade mayonnaise

I left the dressed broccoli slaw in the fridge for a few hours and when it was time to eat, I noticed that it tasted so much better after sitting. The broccoli softened and the flavor was more muted. Well, this is good!

I ate the Broccoli Slaw with roasted chicken and they went so well together.

So now in addition to coleslaw, I can add Broccoli Slaw to my list of salads.

  2. Raw? I love it very lightly boiled with a pinch of salt added to the water, still crunchy but not so hard.

    1. I actually prefer it the way you do it. Raw is not so pleasant.

  3. Hahahaha, with that much mayo and lots of cranberries, I can see that is how to make raw broccoli palatable. Let me see if I can find afforable broccoli to buy. If yes, then I try to eat it raw also! Hahahaha, the eat raw broccoli challenge is on! :D

    1. LL lebih suka kalau dicelur sebab yang mentah tu ada bau semacam. Tapi lebih senang kalau lebur jer yang mentah tu...

  5. wah raw broccoli, not for me....I would blanch it first coz I couldn't stand the 'rawness' and more softer to eat. Your broccoli slaw looks nice and colorful, paired well with roasted meat. yummmmm!!

  6. Broccoli slaw looks yummy! I haven't tried eating broccoli raw but I think I need to soften the broccoli before I am able to chew them because of my weak gum.

  7. Your broccoli slaw with the roasted chicken looks so presentable, good that raw is acceptable to you, I usually steam or boil my broccoli as I don't think I will like it raw
