Teppanyaki

This was an early dinner for me. I visited Teppanyaki@The Starling (CLOSED) previousy but I did not blog about it.

It's at the basement level and since it is still around since opening, I suppose it is doing all right. There were one or two eateries there which closed down.

There are two condiments at the table, a chili dip and soya sauce. I'm afraid the chili dip was not as good as the one I had on my first visit two years ago.

There was a lady who came in just after I did and she ordered the same thing - chicken teppanyaki and the chef cooked our food at the same time.

There you go. A modest serving of rice, chicken and vegetables. Simple and good. Not fantastic but decent enough for a relatively affordable meal. This and green tea cost me RM13.40.

I won't mind coming back.

Yup, I cleaned my plate hee..hee...hee...

  1. Aiks, where are the garlic chips? I need my garlic crisps...lol! :D I like to eat this too because of the piled high stir-fry vegetables I get (though the Japs would probably cringe at how Malaysianised we have made their teppanyaki)...haha! ;)

    1. I had it again today and I paid attention when my dish was served. There were garlic chips but so little that I would have missed them had you not mentioned it!

    1. I agree that the taste is not that great. I remembered it was much better and the chili sambal back then was quite awesome.

    1. I like beef but since it is not so popular, it tends to be not fresh. So I stick to chicken.

  4. A well balanced meal of carb, protein and vege. Good price too! I didn't even notice this shop at Starling because specialisedspecialised shops are off my list due to the "wok hei" that I don't like.

    1. I agree, a well balanced meal. There is no wok hei taste in the chicken at all, to my disappointment.

  5. I used to be crazy when Teppanyaki first arrived our shores over 15 years ago. Nowadays I found the taste dropped after eating them in Japan which is much less oily with different ingredients of fragrance. Let me go back to try our Teppanyaki again as I love taugeh like crazy.
