In the morning, on my way to Damansara Jaya, I noted that TK Bakery was already gearing up for Chinese New Year.
Wah! Chinese New Year is coming very soon. Next year it falls on 29-01-2025. I actually prefer Chinese New Year in February. January is too soon. I bet kids don't agree with me hah...hah.... So anyway.
A hot cup of coffee first to start my morning. When I walked into Halla Holla, I spotted two gentlemen having two sunny side up eggs each with coffee. Ah! So I am not the only one.
I love fried eggs! Then I saw a croissant brought to the two gentlemen's table. I don't know if they shared the croissant or only one of them had the pastry.
Fast forward to lunch time! It was my brother's turn to pick up the tab, so he called the shots.
First up was the yam basket filled with deep fried pork ribs in sweet sauce. Delicious! I just didn't like those white crispy stuff because they make such a mess.
Next was the deep fried rib with sweet sauce. Alamak. Two dishes with sweet sauce. But dang! They was so good!
Those white crispy things are just for garnish. I don't like those fried prawns/shrimps. So that was your routine Saturday, lunch with family and visit to the nursing home to look for your dad. It's great and good to be a family oriented person. Friends and family. They are important to us but for me family comes first as those are the people whom we grow up with. They are the people who know us since young so I can trust them.
ReplyDeleteI agree that family comes first but I have come across people who put friends first. My guess is that their relationship with their family is not good.
Deletemy favorite is kangkung belacan. I can finish the entire plate all by myself, muahahah!
ReplyDeletehah..hah... me too actually!
DeleteI love to eat yam basket. Maybe I should find one nearby and order it and bring some home for more than 1 day eating.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be good even if you take it home. Yam is delicious!
DeleteI love the ribs with sweet sauce and the kangkung belacan. Cabbages I like also (without the fried prawns/shrimps).
ReplyDeleteOh, you don't like hae bee. I used to use it a lot especially when making kerabu.
DeleteThose crispy white things can be eaten actually (though they're tasteless)...lol (they're those deep fried transparent meehoon). First time I've seen cabbage fried with dried prawns so thinly sliced and soft that I thought it was some other vegetable. For this dish with dried prawns, I prefer the cabbage in pieces with still a light crunch to them. I think your yam dish and pork ribs probably share the same sweet sauce. It's easier to refrain from sweet desserts than sweet sauce...hah..hah! ;D
ReplyDeleteHard to avoid sweet (or other) sauce as most dishes have this hah..hah...
DeleteKids normally love those fried vermicelli more than the main dish, haha! The stir fried Kangkung must be very robust in taste, judging from it's appearance.
ReplyDeletehah..hah...it's true! But very messy lah those things and doesn't taste nice. Yes, the kangkung was fantastic!
