No Eggs Today

Hah! Last Saturday, as usual I went to Halla Holla. My main reason for going there is for very the good coffee and protein (eggs) so that I don't overeat at lunch.

Well, that was not to be. I couldn't resist something crunchy and buttery and cheesy.

The Triple Cheese Twist. Adoi!

Ahhhhh.............. it was so good......!!! And the best thing is that I could stop at just one. The old me would have taken out my phone, scanned the QR code and gotten another one.

And when I left the cafe, I was satisfied and did not think about the pastry until writing this post. And I did not even crave it. Hallelujah!

Remember this? Well, we went back to Kar Hiong and my brother requested for the Honey Pepper Abalone Mushroom. He later told me that the mushrooms were not adequately fried and as such were not as crispy as expected.

This was my choice, Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves, clean - just garlic and salt. It was simple and good.

I also chose this Dong Choy Steamed Fish (carp). I avoided the deep fried (delicious) crispy topping. I used to be indifferent towards this dish but it has grown on me and I can understand why it is one of my brother's favorite dishes.

Ah! This is the (all time favorite) Signature Pork Rib, another one of my brother's request. I got the medium sized portion because I was going to eat less (trying to avoid the delicious sweet sauce).

I did get to gnaw at the bone hee..hee...  This is one of my favorite pork dishes here.  My brother's comment was this dish is not consistent - sometimes the meat is dryish or the sauce is not as good. But that day it was spot on perfect.

After I got back to Damansara Uptown, I went for my post-lunch walk. I admit that I felt sluggish and tired. Maybe I was reacting to the sweet sauce which was not possible to avoid entirely as it clung to the meat. Plus it was a very hot day.

I stopped at La Gourmet to ogle at the crockery.

This Dutch oven is so pretty. I love the powder blue color.

The smaller one is so cute! But NO madam! DO NOT buy anymore hah..hah..hah...

These food containers are also very cute. I once shared a table with a lady at the food court and I saw her keep some of her food in a similar container.

There was a time when I was crazy over such containers.

These are cute too.

These come with a bag.

Although the shop was having year end promotions, I walked out empty handed.

The products here are pricey (and I understand that they are of good quality) and since there is nothing that I need (I already have at home), I need not spend any money unnecessarily.

I saw these Chinese New Year lanterns and deco at SSF.

Hah..hah.. harga runtuh indeed!

Boxes of oranges at Jaya Grocer. Last Sunday my partner bought one box at Aeon.

  3. Good that you are able to practise self control and not buying anything that you already have and do not need. Studies show that people with higher IQs can curb impulses better, usually with a better sense of planning, goals, and forethought.

    1. That's nice to know hee..hee.. but my so called "self-control" is actually motivated by limited finances (so I only spend on food LOL!).

  4. Also, while dog people are more likely to be active and social, some psychologists suggest that cat people tend to have higher IQs along with being more introverted and sensitive.

  5. So you eat carbs (pastry) not because you crave it but because you can't resist it. Isn't that the same thing? Lol! In the end, we just have to have it...hah..hah. Sorry, why can't you eat the fried delicious crispy topping on the fish? Is it because it's a vegetable (onions/garlic)? So, if it's a deep-fried protein, then that's allowed?

    1. Let me see. Tempted is when you see something and you feel you must try it. But crave is when it's not within your line of sight but it plays in your head and you want it. See the difference? As far as possible I want to avoid deep fried stuff. If it is meat, I can make an exception. But those crispy toppings, I will avoid.
