Yes, this place is pricey but justified judging from the quality of the food and service. I take into account the costs involved in running an operation such as this.
Rental is one of the biggest overheads followed by staff cost. And then there is the renovation costs, furniture, fittings, kitchen and dining appliances and of course the cost of ingredients and the time cost of preparing and serving the food as well as maintenance cost. Not to mention administrative cost for statutory compliance like income tax etc.
And mind you, for franchises, they have to pay royalties (and in some cases) a minimum guaranteed payment of a certain percentage of their sales or a set amount (whichever is the higher). So it's not that easy.
I requested for no lettuce but forgot to tell them that I also don't want the salad. And I made sure to keep the kimchi far away from the person cooking the meat hah..hah...
The pretty girl in charge presented me with this can of drink on the house (plus a stainless steel cup filled with ice) in appreciation of my second visit. How sweet of her! Well, I don't drink sweet drinks so I took it back to the office hee...hee...
And requested to a second round of kimchi. There will be future visits. How can I afford to eat like this? Well, like I said before, no holidays overseas, el cheapo clothes, handbags and shoes, no beauty regiment, you get the drift.
Gene expression is very much dependent on the environment. what they call epigenetics. You may have the best genes but if you don't get the proper nutrition and stimulant (as in nurturing by your parents/guardians/teachers), you may not realize your full potential.
Almost decided this as my next Makan Kaki birthday gathering venue but one of the friends who visited Hanam at United Point, Kepong mentioned that they don't provide banchan, so the suggestion was declined. :P
