Yes, this place is pricey but justified judging from the quality of the food and service. I take into account the costs involved in running an operation such as this.
Rental and staff cost are among the biggest overheads. And then there are the renovation costs, furniture, fittings, kitchen and dining appliances and of course the cost of ingredients and the time cost of preparing and serving the food as well as maintenance cost. Not to mention administrative cost for statutory compliance like income tax etc.
And mind you, for franchises, they have to pay royalties (and in some cases) a minimum guaranteed payment of a certain percentage of their sales or a set amount (whichever is the higher). So it's not that easy.
I requested for no lettuce but forgot to tell them that I also don't want the salad. And I made sure to keep the kimchi far away from the person cooking the meat hah..hah...
The pretty girl in charge presented me with this can of drink on the house (plus a stainless steel cup filled with ice) in appreciation of my second visit. How sweet of her! Well, I don't drink sweet drinks so I took it back to the office hee...hee...
And requested to a second round of kimchi. There will be future visits. How can I afford to eat like this? Well, like I said before, no holidays overseas, el cheapo clothes, handbags and shoes, no beauty regiment, you get the drift.
Gene expression is very much dependent on the environment. what they call epigenetics. You may have the best genes but if you don't get the proper nutrition and stimulant (as in nurturing by your parents/guardians/teachers), you may not realize your full potential.
Almost decided this as my next Makan Kaki birthday gathering venue but one of the friends who visited Hanam at United Point, Kepong mentioned that they don't provide banchan, so the suggestion was declined. :P
ReplyDeleteTheir banchan is very limited - kimchi, marinated garlic leaves and lettuce salad. Very unlike most Korean BBQ places that give you loads of varieties.
DeleteWow! The meat does look very tasty ππ€€ for carnivores. Thank you for the entertaining write-up of Xmas π
ReplyDeleteThat is the sort of meal that I enjoy!
DeleteYeah, it's quite surprising for a Korean BBQ place to not provide banchan. >.< Actually, those oblong-shaped cushions are nice to hug...a friend gave me a small pillow shaped like that and it's one of my favourite things to hug to sleep...lol.
ReplyDeleteAh! I should get one of those oblong pillow too hee..hee... Yeah, I think many people who are accustomed to variety of banchans find it disappointing.
DeleteI love those pork belly. Thanks for sharing the photos of Christmas trees and the appropriate description and write up of each of them. Very entertaining. And yes, those cushions look very cute.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were cute too :)
