Saturday : To Cheat Or Not To Cheat?

Yesterday marked my 8th day restarting my carnivore diet. I started this way of eating on 01-05-2022 but fell off the carnivore bandwagon due to stress caused by my dad's health crisis.

On the positive side, my non-carnivore meals (at lunch) were complimented by a carnivore meal at dinner. Also I did not go back to eating junk food and pastries and such.

Yes, my old problems came back (but symptoms were milder compared to pre-carnivore) - anxiety, depression, mental fog, fatigue and some weight gain. I was also demotivated and did not keep up with my workouts.

On day 6 of restarting my meat based diet, I was so mentally sharp at the office and I was like boom! boom! boom! when completing my tasks. My sleep improved and waking up in the morning became easier. Energy is still not that great because I am re-adapting to very low carbohydrate intake.

So. As usual Saturday I visited my parents. These visit always cheer me up because I can spend time chatting with them and I can see how they are doing. My brother already bought lunch for them before going off to do whatever he had to do.

After the visit, I walked back to Damansara Uptown. It was very, very hot and I was sweating buckets when I sat down to lunch.

I went to Ding Xiang Sang Nyuk Noodles for another round of their Supreme Mixed Soup.

I was there just before 12:00pm and I had no problem getting a table.

I did not order a drink because there is already a lot of soup for me to drink.

After lunch I walked to the Kaw Kaw Kopi truck to get a White Kopi Bing (no sugar). Then back to the office to get a bunch of work done.

I wasn't sure what to eat for dinner so I came here.

No coffee because I really do not want to stay awake the whole night.

My RM0.80 water. Seriously, they should serve water free of charge.

I stuck to meat and decided that I should stay on track. But I am taking a break from The Red Kettle because they have quality control issues. The steak was as good as ever but the roasted vegetables had an off taste.

Haiz... it's Sunday again. The weekends just simply fly by....

  1. Just eat whatever and not let the diet control us until depression. We need energy and happy mood to live well. Your mum and dad would be happy too when their lovely Daisy comes quacking so often!

I really love the various branches of Kaw Kaw Kopi Trucks or Pak Kopi trucks. Their menu is even longer than Starbuck's and 1/3 the price. One cuppa and gives the power Oommph!!!

80 cents for plain water is robbery! I have yet to follow others who carry their own water bottles to dine. The best place is those mixed rice chap fan that gives free hot tea, hot water and soup!! I would not hesitate to drink 2 bowls of soups and hot tea. So shiok!

    1. I don't do well mentally when I eat too much carbohydrates. Once I started on meat based, the anxiety and depression was gone and I am calm and happy. That is why I choose to stay carnivore and eat other food once in a while.

Me too! The kopi trucks are cheap and their kopi is not bad. I like to support such businesses.

You have given me an idea. I must bring my own water! Oh yes, chap fun shop give free flow soup. Some don't give hot water/tea if they sell drinks. I hope you don't get banned. LOL!

  2. 80 sen only! Here, it is usually RM1.00...and at one place, RM2.00 - listed in their menu as reverse osmosis water! There are a few places where they give complimentary bottles of water - you just help yourself.
When I eat too much meat, I will end up constipating. No, I do not insist on having carbs like how some traditional Chinese MUST have rice (my late dad was one) but I would take a lot of fruits to help with my bowel movement.

    1. My partner also needs rice but he does make exceptions. My late grandma swears by bananas to make sure the pipes get cleaned out. LOL!

  3. Wow, those 2 pieces of kidney is so huge! These days, only the air we breathe is free! I've a Pak Kopi in my taman also but never bought any drinks from there coz I've lots of coffee shops here that churns out good coffee for me. P/S: So the carnivore way of eating relieves you of depression, anxiety and everything else....but not stress. So good for you that you're back on track on the diet that works for you.

    1. I was surprised too when the soup was served. Some coffee shop's kopi taste very nice and some not so good. I wonder (the good ones) what brand of kopi they use.

Carnivore alas does not make me invincible and stress still has an effect on me. The only difference is how I react to it.

  4. Sang yuk soup looks good but for me it will have to be meat only, without the liver, kidney and intestine. Lol! Here some chap fun shops gives free water, Chinese tea and soup.

  5. Wow! I tabik you for walking from your brother's house to uptown in this hot weather. Good to hear that you are spending quality time with your parents. Do spend as much time as you can spare with them as life in short so we should cherish our loved ones now.

    1. It is a short distance so not worth it to call Grabcar. Yes, I will spend as much time with them as I can.
