There I was at Pho Vietz (again). If I love the food at a certain restaurant, I will go there again and again and again.
One of the things on their menu is the rice platter which comes with either marinated sliced pork belly, lemongrass chicken chop or braised chicken leg. The accompaniments are pickled carrots/daikon, a fried egg, nuoc mam cham sauce and crackers.
This one was with pork belly slices. I added a side dish of pork patty skewers. Yes, I know. The fried egg is pathetic.
I noted that they did not include the processed meat that looked like luncheon meat (which I later discovered I accidentally ordered the vegetarian version). You will notice that their fried egg needs improvement. And the crackers? No taste. It's just crunchy and that's that.
It is basically nothing more than Korean instant noodles with toppings. Not something that I fancy but other people might like this.
Oh dear. Another one bites the dust - Warung Sizzling which served hotplate noodles. This space has now been occupied by Teow Chew Meng.
Yes, they need to go and learn how to fry a decent-looking egg! What a disgrace! Being in the food business and you can't even fry an egg. I had vegetarian char siu (yesterday's blogpost) and it was very nice! The mee was disappointing though - probably they did not use egg in the making. I thought you're off rice...and are sticking to meat only?
ReplyDeleteYes, I am currently on meat only. This makan happened in the past, in April or May 2023.
DeleteThe food you have ordered makes me drool.
ReplyDeletehee..hee..
DeleteNo, I definitely wouldn't pay other people to cook instant noodles for me while I can simply do it on my own at home.
ReplyDeletehah..hah...I wonder how long this stall will last.
DeleteI went upstairs to search for the other Vietnamese restaurant on your advice but could not find it. Perhaps closed down.
ReplyDeleteYou have just lured me again to eat at Pho Vietz! They have strong flavoured broths which I loved with lots taugeh and basils. I passed Uncle Kim many times but the menu is too simple!
Uiks! Really? It's called Pho Real and same row as Lim Fried Chicken. I was up there today but did not notice if Pho Real is still around or not. LOL!
DeleteI like the food at pho vietz too. I like instant noodles hahaha but not those spicy versions.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that instant noodle stall is popular hah...hah...
DeleteI love rice too....lol! ;) So I see you have a double whammy....rice with bermacam-macam lauk and rice rolls...hah..hah!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I got myself re-addicted to carbs >.<
