Covid-19 MCO : Day #62 (When Will I Eat Out Again?)

I haven't decided yet but boy, do I miss eating out! The other day on the way to the bank I spotted Home's Kitchen. They are still in operation and they opened way before the MCO.

After I paid a visit back then, I did not have time to blog about it. So why not now?

They serve set meals at affordable prices.

They also have a breakfast menu.

And pan mee too.

On my first visit (and only visit), I had the Muy Choi Braised Pork.

It was not bad though after the meal, I felt that I could eat more hah..hah...

I meant to return for the other sets but somehow I did not. This is a good place to come for a quick work day lunch.

Then I tried another new eatery (there were so many back then) called Hartton Kitchen.

They serve rice bowls, sandwiches and salads. Sounds like something I would love.

I tried the Mentaiko Salmon & Avocado.

The three pieces of avocado were unfortunately still unripe, so it they were a bit hard and not creamy.

The omelette was soft and not overcooked. I liked it. As for the salmon, the taste of the ginger marinade was quite distinct.

In terms of portion size, you get too much lots of rice, a good thing if you love your rice. I found it too much and Japanese rice being starchy and stodgy, I was very stuffed at the end of this meal. Overall, the taste is not bad and makes for a very filling meal.

The coffee I must say was pretty good.

But I did not return as I found the food not really to my liking.

So these two visits were not very exciting.

I meant to visit Rebel Pasta but did not get around to doing that.

That was when I discovered that Du Viet Uptown closed for good.

Perhaps once the MCO is lifted, I might venture out to eat  at a restaurant again. We'll see.

  1. I love mui choy pork belly. Bet more will be closing soon, two months already no income, have to pay the rent, the workers, bet there will be some who simply can't make it. :(

  2. The rice of the mui choy set is quite a lot. The other rice that is too much, if it is too much for you, then it is definitely too much for me. I don't think I will be dining in any place until next year. Not as brave as STP.

  3. I believe you left out the word "Not". You wanted to say "I meant to visit Rebel Pasta but did NOT get around to doing that." ?

  5. Did you walk out to Starling during lunch today? How is the situation out there? Exactly like before MCO? I am still confined inside my house working from home.

  6. I too miss eating in a restaurant with family and friends. Don't know when we will feel comfortable eating in a restaurant again. Returning to normal will take some time.

    1. I think so. Maybe even up to year end or next year, things may not change that much.

  7. Hahaha! I should change your title from Uptown Girl to Uptown Newspaper Reporter. LOLOL
So both Kitchen Restaurants are No-No ratings and don't deserve my visit. I am speechless and shocked that Du Viet Uptown is closed for good. Must be the fault of yours and mine for not supporting enough.

  9. I'm still dare not to dine out but hubby said the dining in SOP for restaurant will be the new norm (at least for a few months) and we have to adapt it sooner or later. :(

    1. Wait and see how first. Not many are dining in from what I observed in my area.

  10. Even i wouldn't dine out for now. Just tapao or order in. I noticed that many shops are still not opening for dine in and prefer to maintain the take away option. Better for now. Will see once June 9th comes along :)
