Covid-19 MCO : Day #73 (I Eat Too Much)

That's nothing new. My plate or rather glass container runneth over. Melimpah-limpah like that.   I can eat and I eat a lot.

That's my battle ground in weight control - portion size. When I do my food prep for office lunches, my portion control is pretty good. The amount of food is just right, enough to satiate me and good to last until dinner time.

But when I prep food during this MCO period, specifically food for me to enjoy for dinner in front of the TV (a practice my mum does not approve of hah...hah...), I go overboard.

I prep loads of food, as much as my big ass glass container can take.

This one has brown rice, charred cauliflower, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, sausages (yummeh!) and bacon (super yummeh!!).

See. So loaded. Eat until very satisfied. No need desserts.

This one has the same things except no cucumbers but with asparagus and baby romaine (and some leftover mushrooms).

I have been eating roasted/charred broccoli and cauliflower for two or three days in a row. Sien already.

The baby romaine that I cooked using my cast iron pan tasted really good. I must have that again.

Now I am craving for fried fish hee..hee...

This is my sleepy looking cat at 5:00am this morning. Yesterday she woke me up at 3:00am >.<

So before I went to sleep last night, I told her "wake mommy up at 4:00am. Not 3:00am. Not 1:00am (she did that three mornings ago). Remember 4:00am". Now, who else talks to their cat like that?

So this morning at the appointed time, she jumped on the sofa and climbed on mommy. Gave mommy a few head butts on the face too. So sweet!

As you can see, the battle for the sofa is not quite over. Mommy can also be relentless.

Girl is clearly uncomfortable with those Daiso towels.

So she jumped off to go to her corner hee..hee... Today Mommy 1 : Girl 0

Not so fast Ma! I will be back!

  2. I see your big portion is mostly from the vegetables so it is ok to eat huge amount of vegetables. Won't gain weight from vegetables punya.

  3. ohh….u jaga the living hall at night? why wake up so early at 4am? do food prep? I would just put ah girl in her cage/wherever her bed is and locked myself somewhere far from her so I don't get waken up by her at odd hours. A big clap for u for scoring 1 over ah girl in the sofa battle.

    1. I wake up early on working days so that I have enough time to exercise and get food ready. If I put her in her cage, she makes even more noise.

  5. I'd rather eat your food prep than mine (with a bit of rice and so many types of veggie in one bowl). That's when it dawned on me that my food prep is very different from yours. I food prep Chinese-style chap fan dishes, all separately, and freeze them. On the day I want to eat them, I'll steam some rice and steam the dishes from their frozen state. I can't food prep your type of food coz it doesn't taste good after reheating via steaming (from frozen). So, that brings me to a question...you don't freeze your food...or reheat it, yes? You keep your food prep in the fridge and eat it from that state (and sometimes after it has come to room temperature), right? I only do that with roasted chicken & veggies (like salads). That I can eat straight from the fridge with a squirt of dressing. Sometimes I still put them in my toaster oven to reheat. But it's difficult to reheat frozen food in that manner...and steaming makes the food release liquid...haiz. But I want to try your style of food prep (which is also a good way of finishing bits of veggies leftover). If I do your style of food prep, how long do you think it can be stored and eaten from the fridge for the food to 'qualify' as safe for consumption? I'm always weary of eating contaminated food as I once had a bout of vomiting and diarrhea so bad that thinking of it gives me the chills! >_< P/S: Please share how to food prep stir-fry lettuce without it releasing tonnes of water.

So I see your cat has become your alarm clock...though, at times, the clock can go 'cuckoo' (timing a bit out lah)! :D You wake up pretty early, I must say...I'm still in la la land until 7am though I've awaken before at 4am & 5am and can't fall back to sleep. It's so sweet of your girl to give you a few head butts on the face to wake you up. Either that or she'll scare the daylights out of me with her sudden move at that ungodly hour...wahahahaha! ;D

    1. Oh really, I am so flattered heh..heh... For my food, I do not freeze as it is not suitable for freezing. And yes, no reheating. In the office, I just take it out from the fridge about 2 hours prior to eating so that it can come to room temperature. I have kept my food for 4 days in the fridge and don't suffer any tummy issues (maybe my stomach is strong hah..hah..). But I have to admit that by day 4, the food quality drops and depending on what sort of veggies (chicken or pork still taste good) you use, like say roasted broccoli may smell a bit (the sulphur smell). The lettuce was sort of "fried" in my hot cast iron pan. I was attempting to char it but it only wilted hah..hah...As soon as wilted, I removed from the pan. There was minimal liquid released. Let me experiment a bit more, then I will share on my blog.

Yes, she is very unreliable. This morning she made a lot of noise at 1am >.< and then she went back upstairs and came to me at around 4am and invited herself on the sofa and then on me hah..hah..

  6. If I have such attractive and delicious food prep like yours, I would eat alot too. I have gained weight this MCO due to overeating. It will be an uphill struggle to try to lose weight now. Sigh! Ha ha ha...your cat is so cute. Let you win first, Girl will win next round! Hehehehe.....

    1. hah..hah..so true but a bowl packed with popcorn, chips or mayo (I would prefer chili sauce) drenched fries sounds mighty tempting! That would be a real cheat meal :)
