Way before the MCO, I had the hots for Hayaki's Nasi Kerabu. Via Grabfood because I somehow couldn't bring myself to sit alone at Hayaki@Damansara Uptown. Why? Why? Why, you ask.
Well, I finally stepped into Hayaki soon after that and that is another story for another post. You wait, ah, I tell you later.
So. I think it was before Chinese New Year that I ordered nasi kerabu and nasi kukus many, many times from Hayaki. I just loved the food.
The meal is packed in paper boxes. Top marks for environmentally friendly packaging.
But alas plastic can't be avoided to contain the sauces and sambal. This was the Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik, I think.
After I removed the chicken leg (apparently there are people who complained on Google review that they were disappointed because they wanted breast. How silly) you can see the rice, sambal kelapa (yummeh!), fresh herbs and veggies.
I transferred all to a plate and gave the rice a nice mix.
Poured the sauces/sambal.
And had a jolly good feed.
Another day I add on rojak buah and concluded that it is not worth it. Not nice at all. Just stick to the nasi kerabu.
I also ordered a packet of keropok.
Somebody had her share.
And was very pleased. Meow!
I used to bring midnight guests to dine at HAYAKI as that's the only 24 hours outlet closest to home. The foreigners loved the food there. I tried everything except Nasi Kerabu! I should try that next time. I was surprised to discover that their HQ is in Kota Bahru and KL is the only branch!
ReplyDeleteI think it is spot mostly for night owls! During the day, it does not seem crowded. No fight with Village Park hah..hah..
DeleteWhere is this Hayaki shop in uptown? Don't think I have noticed it. I love to eat nasi kerabu but will ask for chicken breast, lolx! Silly ah? Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteIt is one shop away from Village Park, corner lot. Oh dear! Apologies all round for my silly remark. LOL!
DeleteNp, cos many people think it is silly to want to eat chicken breast. Someone even say it to the face of my brother when he requested for chicken breast meat, lolx!
DeleteSo what did you give Girl Girl? Can't see clearly in the photo. Keropok? Or chicken?
ReplyDeleteI gave her keropok. She loved it!
DeleteThe nasi kerabu looks good except I can hardly see the colour of the blue-tinged rice. I would have been highly disappointed if I had gotten the chicken breast. What can I say, we're both chicken leg lovers! ;) I think I know what you mean about dining alone. There are certain places I've no qualms about dining alone but some places I just don't feel comfortable sitting alone. Anyway, I'll wait for your story. Your cat eats fish keropok? Wow, she really likes food...of any kind! :D
ReplyDeleteMy cat loves to eat, just like me hah..hah... She enjoyed the keropok. I suppose anything fishy is enjoyable to her.
DeleteThere were plenty of nasi kerabu stalls nearby my office till i opt to eat someting else coz too bored with it. Now tht these stalls are gone i miss the nasi kerabu...hopefully there will b new nasi kerabu stalls occupying the vacant lot aft the MCO.
ReplyDeleteToo much of a good thing will feel sien. LOL!
DeleteAh girl was begging for more keropok? Not enuff la with just 3 pcs...
ReplyDeleteYes, she always wants more!
DeleteOoooo...when can I get to eat nasi kerabu again? Sobsss!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll in good time! Lucky for me I can order via Grabfood hee..hee..
DeleteNo no to chicken breast meat for me too haha.
ReplyDeleteHigh 5! LOL!
