Covid-19 MCO : Day #47 (Butter Cake)

Yesterday evening I baked a Butter Cake because I found 3 blocks of Golden Churn butter in the fridge. These will expire in November and Golden Churn being so expensive, I do not want to waste it.

My cake turned out quite nicely in spite of me being out of practice for many months heh...heh...

So happy!

This morning I went to Aeon. My partner and I arrived 15 minutes before opening time and the queue was sooooo looong...

Possibly due to the relaxation of the rule that two people from the same household can now come out together. Plus some some people are starting work tomorrow and cannot go shopping on other days.

It took 30 minutes before we could enter the supermarket.

Apparently there is a priority lane for the disabled, senior citizens and pregnant women. I am 3 years shy from qualifying as senior citizen but my partner qualifies. Next week we could queue at this lane.

Yesterday, besides baking a cake, I also had to deal with my cat. She was giving me attitude.

Look at her sour face. She refused to eat her Whiskas tuna and insisted on kibble. Why?

Well, her boyfriend came over and I gave him some kibble (must make friends with your daughter's boyfriend). He ate with gusto.

Next thing I knew my Girl made a lot of noise, and kept looking up at the cabinet where I keep her food. I immediately knew that she wanted kibble.

Nope. I wasn't going to give in to her tantrums. Girl! You eat what Mommy puts in front of you! Sounds familiar? Some mother's do that, right? Then the more geng ones will go into the "there are starving children in Africa" narrative. So did I. You know or not, some cats in this neighborhood have to beg for food?

Still stare at me and make a lot of noise. So I walked away.

She followed me.

I proceeded to eat my dinner and there she was whining away. I tak layan.

She will eat her tuna when she gets real hungry.

So she went into a corner to sulk.

Nothing doing. Mommy will not give in.

Later she went out (without touching her tuna) and at 11:00pm, I went to call her in. I found her pursuing a cockroach. Eeww!! She must have heard about Cookie's killer instincts and wanted to show off hers.

Mommy was having none of that and carried her in. That evening there was a whole lot of digging and scratching outside my bedroom.

I woke up to find one parquet missing and up till now I can't find the missing piece. Haiz! (Yes, last night she finished her tuna).

This is my lunch today. Steamed chicken fillet with tofu and brinjals. No time to take nice photo.

This is my food prep. I decided that I will not go to office everyday, just two or three days a week or as and when necessary until the MCO is lifted.

OK I gotta go. Have to sleep early tonight!

  1. Excuses! Excuses!!! November is still a long way to go! I am eating one right how, and I have two more. Didn't check the expiry date. Thinking of making a butter cake too...but scared lah, sure disaster one!!! I can't bake!

  2. I guess baking cakes must be like riding the bike...you don't ever forget...hahaha! :D Your cake looks perfect...I'd be happy too if I can have a slice. Luckily I don't have to queue at all at the wet market where I buy my stuff. Wah, your girl is very demanding...good that you didn't give in to her. But do know that cats can one day reject the food they've been eating all along and want something else instead. Looks like more and more States will not be enforcing the conditional MCO announced by the federal government, so stay safe when you return to work.

    1. I could ride a bike before but I doubt if i could do it now! Thanks for the compliments :) This recipe has never failed me. Today my cat changed her mind and wants back the tuna. Haiz! I feel that the relaxation of MCO came too soon. I hope it is not a disaster.

  4. Why am I looking at your butter cake so late at night? I want to eat it so badly with a hot Moccona coffee. Don't worry, I can sleep after a hot coffee.

Your Fei Mau is a typical feline that has kepala angin with their food. I cannot even understand their diet and mood swings, so I just feed what is right exactly how you gave Fei Mau. Do you know that dogs never have this angin and would wag their tails non stop when you are getting their food ready. Their tails would wag faster than your table fan's blade at No 3!! Once you put their food in their bowl, all habis in a wink of eye! They will wag their tails again for more. Strange animals.

  6. Yes, good move to go in a few days a week. Are your other colleagues and staff going back to work in the office too? If yes, please be careful and don't get too close to them because who knows, they may not know if they have it without symptoms.

  8. Aiyo maybe girl girl doesn't like her kibbles being eaten by her bf. Does she prefer to eat another type of fish in whiskas pack? The box your partner bought has a few fish types.

  13. Yummy butter cake. Long time haven't tasted one. Entertaining to read about your Cat refusing to eat what you have given her and some more whining and sulking to show her dislike. Quite a strong willed cat. Hope you find that missing parquet piece.
