A Meetup@Wood & Steel Damansara Uptown (CLOSED)

It was back to work after the long Christmas weekend. Bah! How I wish I could take a few more days off. But hey, this weekend is another long weekend. Yay!

Dragon-i@1-Utama

It has been ages since my partner and I visited Dragon-i. It is not my favorite place for Chinese food because I find the food too mild for my taste. What? Am I that fussy? hee..hee..

Cookie Brownies

This I would say this is the Cookie Dough Cheesecake Bar equivalent for a brownie. It's amazing the variety of brownies I found while blogstalking. My latest discovery is A Pinch of Yum and I go there and oogle at the beautiful food photography. And then I get hungry.

Gluten-Free Oven Fried Chicken

Quite a while back, I watched an episode of Hemsley & Hemsley : Healthy & Delicious where the Hemsley girls made oven fried chicken. What's interesting about their oven fried chicken (called Pablo's Chicken after the boyfriend of a cousin) is that the chicken is coated with ground almonds instead of flour.

Another Wedding

It was a Saturday and I had a wedding to attend. This was how I looked like for most of the day.

Low Carbing At That Freakshake Place

Update : Patissez@Damansara Uptown has closed down.

Ignore that photo. That's obviously not low carb food. But is it possible to low carb at Patissez@Damansara Uptown? A place where the Freakshakes will shake your resolve? Well, let me show you.

Beef Ragu with Spaghetti

I love pasta. Spaghetti, fettuccini, macaroni, whatever. My first ever spaghetti experience was my mum's spaghetti with meat sauce which I attempted here.

Wednesday, 21 December 2016

Chicken Nuggets

Yes, I have made this before but I did not put up a recipe because it was kind of experimental at the time. Since I loved it so much, I had to make it again.

Grrrrr....

I found a capsicum plant in my garden. No, I did not intentionally plant it. It just grew out of the garden compost. Two flowers bloomed and it showed promise of supplying me with 2 capsicums.

BBQ Flavored Chips

I've been doing a spot of gardening during the weekends and was reminded of how gardening has brought such great joy to my life. As I was clearing the dried leaves outside my door, it felt like just recently that I was scrambling like mad to get the house cleaned up in time for Chinese New Year. Guess what?

Friday, 16 December 2016

Grandma's Garlic and Salt Chicken

This is probably the most dull and ordinary looking dish. After all it's just chicken, garlic and salt. I fried those whole cloves of garlic just to sex it up a bit. Hah!

Thursday, 15 December 2016

Fried Stuffed Cencaru

I did mention before that I am hopeless with fish. If I want to eat fish, I eat out. I have cooked fish before but I don't do it often.

Wednesday, 14 December 2016

Mango Kerabu with Ikan Bilis

The other day, I looked at my garden in hopeless resignation. It was one big mess.

Can I Borrow Your Cat?

That's my brother's cat. Miki. I can't remember if it is male or female. I am so absent minded.

Mad Cooking 6 : Paella Bodo

It's been a while since I did some experiments with not so favorable results. Those cooking disasters or dishes that bombed will not be wasted and they make it to my Mad Cooking Hall of Fame. So welcome to my latest edition of Mad Cooking. Episode 6.

Acar Bendi (Ladies Finger Acar)

Do you like ladies fingers (okra)? I know that some people do not like it because it is slimy. But me? I have always loved ladies fingers. My mum and my grandma usually boil the ladies fingers and then we eat them with sambal belacan.

Roasted Chicken With Sausages and Vegetables

When I saw this dish on Food Wishes I was immediately attracted simply because the dish looked so pretty. What attracted me even more was the idea of including sausages, peppers and potatoes into the baking pan.

Pimp My Bowl

I notice that these days, meals in bowls are the in-thing. There's of course the new sensation, Poke Bowl and then there are many others that look so enticingly delicious.

Tuesday, 6 December 2016

Turtle Brownies

My camera died on me when I was ready to snap some pics of these brownies. The tell tale signs were there for some weeks already. The "replace battery" sign kept coming on even though the batteries were new.

Monday, 5 December 2016

Restoran Sam You

It was yet another Friday evening. Having gone to Sam Yu twice already, we decided to try the other one, Sam You

Friday, 2 December 2016

Grandma's Char Koay Teow

OK, I experimented again with grandma's recipe. This time I must say that I am 90% near the taste of grandma's fried koay teow

Thursday, 1 December 2016

Asam Pedas Premier (CLOSED)

Every time I run my banking errands, this red signboard keeps catching my eye. Asam Pedas Premier. Somehow I never ventured over there to see what it was all about. After all, I am not that crazy over asam pedas.

Some Kind of Vegetable Dish

This vegetable dish I learnt from a blog that is no longer active. Some of you who read Malay blogs may know Queenie of Semalam Berlalu Esok Menanti. I am not putting a link to this blog because it is now basically a shell, all posts have been deleted.

Tuesday, 29 November 2016

Patissez@Damansara Uptown (CLOSED)

You know, it's very hard to go on a diet when there are so many nice makan places near my office. The latest to join the group of diet saboteurs (hah..hah..) is Patissez.

Monday, 28 November 2016

Cajun Chicken Pasta

I cooked this pasta for the first time about 3 years ago and cooked it again for a family gathering not long after. Since then, I have not cooked it again.

Friday, 25 November 2016

Nasi Kukus Lejen@Damansara Uptown (CLOSED)

"Monday onwards I will go back to low-carb diet". Who said that? Who? I don't know. I didn't hear a thing hee..hee..hee...

Thursday, 24 November 2016

Sambal Tempeh

I know some people don't like tempeh. I also know that many others love it, just like me. When I was in the university, the operator of our hostel cafeteria used to serve tempeh every now and then.

The Ship@Damansara Uptown

It has been a long time since my partner and I visited The Ship@Damansara Uptown. The last time we were there (Christmas eve? Valentines? Can't quite remember), we were late and the restaurant was super crowded.

Tuesday, 22 November 2016

Smelly But Delish!

I was looking for something in the fridge and I noted that my fridge is overcrowded. So many bottles and containers of this and that taking up so much space. That made retrieving or looking for anything from the fridge rather cumbersome.

Monday, 21 November 2016

Kacang Pool (Spicy Fava Beans)

When I saw this recipe on Kak Noor's post, I was reminded that Kacang Pool was featured on the Malaysian Food Fest Johor blog event back in 2013. I meant to give the recipe a go but somehow I forgot all about it.

Friday, 18 November 2016

Lapor Weh!

Every now and then, some Chinese bloggers who blog in English will suddenly blog in Mandarin for reasons unknown. And I can't read a dang thing. So today, just for the fun of it, I am doing the same thing. Not in Mandarin of course, that's foreign to me. So.

Thursday, 17 November 2016

DIY Nasi Campur

Last week I subsisted on nasi campur from the van hah..hah... I couldn't help it. I love Malay food. But...

The Next Best Thing

It was Friday night. Our date night. We have since stopped visiting my favorite place. I feel kind of sad. Not for me but for the restaurant. The last time we were there, I didn't enjoy the food. I guess it is tough to be consistent when the chef can't be there 100% of the time.

Tuesday, 15 November 2016

Grandma's Mee Goreng

I still remember during one family gathering, my brother told me "Yang ni boleh jual" (this one can sell) as he ate this mee goreng (fried noodles).

Monday, 14 November 2016

Nasi Goreng Petai (Stinky Bean Fried Rice)

I have a thing for petai (stink bean). And I complain that parmesan cheese is smelly. Hah!

Friday, 11 November 2016

When You Don't Have A Cat...

Sometimes I need non-food/cooking/baking posts as fillers to keep my blog alive. The only time I get some kitchen action is Saturday and/or Sunday and there is a limit to what I can do.

Thursday, 10 November 2016

Mummy's Beef Curry

This is one curry which my brothers and I look forwards to when we return home to Terengganu. It is a curry reserved for special occasions like Chinese New Year.

Wednesday, 9 November 2016

Zebra Butter Cake, Not

Haiz..... Instead of nice zebra stripes, this cake came out with designs like what Picasso would have made if he baked. Bah! It was not easy to dollop the batter because it is not light like Japanese Cheesecake batter.

Tuesday, 8 November 2016

Nasi Campur Nyum Nyum!

I was walking out to pickup a loaf of bread when I noticed a van selling nasi campur. Yay!!

Monday, 7 November 2016

BBQ Sauce Fried Chicken

I opened the freezer the other day and realized that I have three containers of my homemade BBQ sauce. Not only were these taking up space, they were also depriving me of containers.

My Garden Is Not A Buffet

I have been keeping a keen eye on my garden lately. Looking out for pesky critters which think that my garden is akin to The Lemon Garden Cafe of Shangri-la.

Thursday, 3 November 2016

Grandma's Fried Koay Teow

Move over Robert! It's grandma's turn. Terengganu fried koay teow hee...hee...hee...

Wednesday, 2 November 2016

Robert's Penang Fried Kueh Teow@Damansara Kim

It was a hot Saturday afternoon (it's always hot anyway) and my partner suggested Curry Mee at Damansara Kim (at a coffee shop know as Restoran Golden Kim Wah). As far as he was concerned, this one is way superior to what he had at Annie-1

Tuesday, 1 November 2016

Chocolate Cheese Lava Cake

This cake has been a sensation and featured in many Malay blogs in recent times. The most arresting feature of this cake (before you actually dig in) is the name - Chocolate Cheese Lava Berhantu. The last word, berhantu, means haunted. How's that, eh?

Monday, 31 October 2016

Daging Masak Hitam

Finally. Mr Arthur Wee, this here is my Daging Masak Hitam cooked using the ready made paste that you kindly sent all the way from Sibu. Thank you again, sir! This masak hitam turned out superb!

Friday, 28 October 2016

Chicken Rice Maniac

My partner's chicken rice craving was not appeased at Sam Yu and the following evening we ventured out to 1977 Ipoh Chicken Rice at Jalan Gasing. This is getting good isn't it? Two date nights in a row. Macam honeymoon pulak.

Thursday, 27 October 2016

Muesli Bars

I know those muesli bars up there look like a disaster. It was one of those Sundays when I tried to overachieve. I do that to myself all the time and sometimes I end up feeling overwhelmed.

Wednesday, 26 October 2016

My Partner's Craving

It was Friday night and my partner was craving for, of all things, chicken rice. The man has been confronted with my cooking almost everyday and I think he is bored. hah..hah..

Tuesday, 25 October 2016

Ayam Masak Sambal Kicap

There was a time when I was addicted to nasi campur and I would visit my favorite food stall every work day and get my fill of Malay food.

Monday, 24 October 2016

My Blender Rosak. Adoi!

Of all days. When I wanted to make a Smoothie Bowl, my blender had to act up. Not just one blender, but both. Drat!
