I notice that these days, meals in bowls are the in-thing. There's of course the new sensation, Poke Bowl and then there are many others that look so enticingly delicious.
But these bowls of deliciousness will set you back plenty. So. One weekend with nothing better to do (actually there was a pile of laundry waiting for me >.<) I decide to plate up a bowl or two or three just for the fun it.
It so happened that I cooked for the week (including some cooked the week before and frozen) and had lots of material to work with.
It's nice to eat like this but DIY version means plenty of effort. It's more convenient then, obviously, to have someone else cook and serve this to you.

The first bowl, makes me think of briyani, hehe...
ReplyDeleteIs that the long grain rice as used in briyani?
Yes, I use long grain rice like the one used for briyani.
DeleteLooks like you had a busy week cooking up the goodies up there! Actually I like my food to be served in ceramic bowls instead of plastic ones especially those served in hot soup. Makes the food more appetizing looking. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to eat like that while watching TV LOL!
DeleteI counted 4 bowls. Why 4 different bowls? Are they for one sitting or more? Looks very delicious! So many different dishes in one bowl so I know must be a lot of work. Bravo to you!
ReplyDeleteAs I said, just for the fun of it :)
DeleteBut did you finish eating all four bowls as one meal or for both lunch and dinner?
DeleteHey, unknowingly, because of the lazy (wo)man in me, I end up plating my bowl like this too every time I cook at home. The reason is because, when I cook 3 - 4 dishes, I would spoon a bit of each in my bowl and sit in front of the TV. That way, I don't have to go back and forth to take my food....hehe! ;D Of all the bowls, my fav would be the one with beef curry, daging masak hitam, coleslaw, some kind of vegetable dish and some kind of fried rice...kekeke! :D
ReplyDeleteEating like what you do is very ideal. There's nothing like noshing while watching TV hah..hah...
DeleteI love all the bowl. You have presented it well. Well balance meal.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angeline! My new way of enjoying my food :)
DeleteHi Phong Hong, all look so good. I like.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kimmy. I enjoy eating like that hee..hee..
DeleteWow! I love your bowls! So many goodness.
ReplyDeleteI dont mind cooking and washing but some day I would wish for someone to wash after me. Lol.
Now school holidays, your kids can help wash up LOL!
DeleteYou mean restaurants in KL serve set meals in bowls like these too? I cannot imagine that. To me, eating out of a big bowl like this is for lazy home cooking, you hold the bowl in your hand and eat while watching Netflix. I don't think I will appreciate seeing meals served to me like this in a restaurant. Except if it is noodles soup...
ReplyDeleteMostly in cafes lah I think. I find it quite appealing to have many things in a bowl.
DeleteRg but currently set meals are served in one plate with everything on it. So you mean OK to serve everything on a plate but not in one bowl?
DeleteWow look delicious PH
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lina :)

DeleteI too noticed food being served in bowls now which normally were served in plates. I like all the food in the bowls you have prepared. Oh my! That's a lot of effort and hard work to prepare all those food! I guess it is worth it because the food looks so yummy-licious! Makes me hungry!
