Bengbeng Sourdough

I am still enjoying sourdough bread from Bengbeng Sourdough. And the best thing is that this bakery has moved its operations from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur. Yay!

Bengbeng Sourdough is now baking from The Cookhouse at Glo Damansara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail. I had no clue until I placed an order back in November 2021. Fortunately I contacted them via whatsapp to confirm delivery date and had to redirect the delivery to my work place instead of home.

So if I place my order today, the bread will be freshly baked tomorrow and delivered the very same day.

These were the ones delivered to my office, all packed in a box.

The bread was still warm and you can see vapor in the packaging.

I made another order before the year end and these arrived on new year's eve.

This time the orders were placed in plastic bags. Delivery is via Grabexpress. I ordered 3 Sourdough Country Loaf and 6 Sourdough Donuts.

They gave me a free gift!

Two bars of Bentong Ginger Soap.

The donut is not as fluffy as regular donuts and is more on the dense side. But if you zap it for 10 seconds in the microwave, it becomes soft and fluffy. I requested for no sugar as I prefer it that way (less messy to eat).

The sourdough loaf was soft and fluffy (which made it harder to slice but I am not complaining) since it was freshly baked.

As usual, I sliced the bread and kept them in the freezer like how I did here.

I am so glad that I can get freshly baked sourdough bread delivered to my home. I know that some people dislike sourdough bread maybe because the bread lacks that sweet yeasty aroma/flavor that we are so used to in commercial breads. But I enjoy the chewy texture and tang so I will continue to consume this bread.

So there. This morning's breakfast of a thick slice of sourdough and one of my favorite peanut butters.

  1. Glad to know that it's even easier for you to continue to enjoy your Bengbeng sourdough (I see they're now baking from a cloud kitchen in KL). There's no better time than now to try (I guess) since they're located in KL. I'm tempted to try the donuts since they can come without sugar (I understand they pack the sugar separately, so one can still order them with sugar and sprinkle sparingly when they arrive or choose to eat without sugar). P/S: Before I can order their sourdough loaf, I need to invest in a bread knife first...haha! ;D

    1. It was a really nice surprise when I found out. I like the donuts and the bagels too, though they are rather pricey. Ah yes, you definitely need a bread knife to slice through the loaf easily.

  6. They have moved to KL now? That's good! So far from Kelantan, can't get it fresh from the oven. We have two places here selling sourdough but I have not gone to buy. Very lazy to go out. There may be others but I don't know.

    1. It's wonderful as they bake fresh and deliver same day. These days, going out is such a hassle. Have to scan here and scan there. LOL!
