Last Year's Eats

As you know, my food prep activities came to a grinding halt last year. Tsk..tsk... I just let go and let myself free fall and did or rather ate out as I pleased.

It takes discipline and a certain amount of conviction to spend a few hours in the kitchen on Sundays to make (in my case) at least 4 lunches. Dinner is always a simple affair - soups (which I prepare a big pot) or steamed vegetables and meat.

I stopped lunch meal prep (no point forcing myself) and ate out for the most of 2021.

If it's not at the chap fan shop, lunch is at The Starling food court.

Pho Real is still going strong (8 stalls have since shut down with no replacements at the time of writing) and the quality of their Hanoi Beef Pho is still as good as the first day they started.

My lunch go to is always 282 Mixed Rice which is situated along the same row as Public Bank and TK Bakery

The cooking is pretty good and there is lots of variety to choose from.

Among the standouts for me is the sweet and sour pork and Thai style beancurd. I always cannot resist those two.

As for vegetables, I always prefer the green leafy ones. But I also love ladies fingers, brinjals, beansprouts and bittergourd.

Another recent favorite dish is the nam yue fried chicken. It is so very tasty! They also have the pork version but somehow it is not as good.

Of course, another favorite haunt of mine is Annie 1. Now, whenever I crave for pork noodles, I have it at Annie 1.

 Nyum!

This one is a very tasty vegan meal from EAT 21

Girl was very moody on new year day. It was raining outside, so she stayed in.

And had a nice snooze while Belle Belle chilled out outside.

I think I should kick start my food prep again. Yes?

  1. Chap fan is economical and convenient as you can opt for dishes that you like.

As long as you are happy and enjoy the food, why not?? Food prep can be done when you are in the mood.

  4. If we have pho in my area, I would go for it too. The chap fun you had all look good and the vegetables look fresh and green. Hubby would love the liver in the pork noodle. You can start your food prep whenever you are ready. Meanwhile enjoy eating out. I am also taking things easy these days.

  5. Haha, now I see you doing summary kind of posts like me. If you have access to a good chap fan, why bother to food prep...lol. It was like me exploiting the good discounts offered by ShopeeFood until the good times came to a grinding halt in the new year (may soon have to go back to cooking again...haha!). If there's one thing I've never tried at Annie 1 it's their pork noodles as I've many good pork noodles specialists that I'm happy with.

    1. LOL! I had photos in my phone, so did not want to waste those snapshots. Annie 1's pork noodles are among the better ones but not the best. But good enough for me when the craving hits.
