I Wish I Didn't Have a Cat. Sometimes.

This is my oyen (as the Malay media often refers to orange colored cats) chilling out on my her favorite sofa. She is relatively trouble free (being a younger cat) while Belle Belle is giving me problems.

On new year day, she did the unforgivable and the next morning I almost blew my top when I saw this.

Belle Belle vomited and she had to do it on the sofa. The sheets and towel underneath were freshly washed and now I had to wash and disinfect them all over again. Haiz....

Then on Thursday morning I had deal with another episode.

At least this time it was on the floor. But that was not all.

There was more vomit. But I can't throw her out.

She is simply too cute. Besides I did vow to take her back and do right by her.

So like any mother, I am stuck with my kid.

I have been trying to get the two of them out of the room. As I understand it, cats do not like change. Any implementation of new settings must be done gradually. So I tried to get them attached to those cat beds that I placed on the bed (with intention of placing those cat beds at another location later).

Nope it didn't work. Girl resorted to sleeping outside my room again.

Belle Belle of course clung on to her red basket.

But one day, a breakthrough. Well, not really.

Girl made sure to stay clear of the cat beds.

But saw it fit to take a nap.

But still not on the cat bed.

I have to be patient.

She decided that the sofa is still the better place.

She was really enjoying her snooze.

Until she detected mommy stalking her with the phone.

Belle Belle did better. Look at her.

So, not really. I don't wish that I did not have cats. Most of the time I am thankful that they came into my life. They have brought me joy and I love them very much!

  1. I'm glad I do not have one! Unfortunately, there is one stray cat in the neighbourhood climbing onto my cars in the middle of the night night leaving paw prints, cat fur...urine stains all over, so pissed off! Grrrrrr!!!!!

    1. Strays create a lot of problems. Since having these two, there are no more strays that stray into my garden.

  4. Thank you again for loving both of them and having to wash their vomits and accidental businesses. Fingers crossed that they get used to the many cat beds that you bought them. Both of them are so adorable.❤️❤️❤️❤️

  5. PH, perhaps you could ask your vet to recommend the hairball remedy/ control gel which looks like toothpaste tube. If belle belle doesn't reject the hairball remedy it might relief her from the hairball throwing up episodes. But don't overfed either as it will cause diarrhea.

    1. It might not be hairball because I did not see any in the vomit but thanks for the suggestion.

  6. Yes, I've had those thoughts all the time too. Wait till they become senior cats and have some sickness, caring for them will be even more work...lol. That's when I wished I had resisted their cuteness. But, at the same time, I also remember the joy Cookie brought to my life.

I've tried to put those cat beds on my sofa but Cookie avoids it like the plague too. As for vomiting episodes, I got those also but not lately. Yeah, I bought hairball gell also but it didn't seem to work either. I think it's just a case of them gorging their food too fast and running around (like a kid would do) before their stomach could settle. As for getting them out of the room...simple....just close the door behind you each time you exit the room (that's how I keep Cookie out).

    1. I'll have to say the joy they bring us outweigh those accidents that we have to clean up! Cats! We buy things for them and they avoid the gifts like the plague hah..hah.. I tried closing the door and the two of them just huddled outside the door and gave me that sad look. So I caved in and opened the door. Haiz...
