Covid-19 MCO : Day #79 (Fried Chicken Again)

I was craving for fried chicken again. No. Not KFC. The last  fried chicken I had was Texas Chicken ordered via Grabfood from the Damansara Uptown branch. It was not that good and the packaging was bad. The box was torn at the bottom >.< (happened again a second time, so no more ordering from Damansara Uptown)

This time I decided to order from the 1 Utama branch. See if it is any better. My order was delivered by a Grabcar driver, an uncle. He took a long time to get to the restaurant. From the restaurant to my home, he also took a while.

When he finally showed up (some 45 minutes from the time of order), it also took a long time for him to get out of his car hah..hah... I watched him from my glass door and he seemed to be fiddling with his phone. I couldn't tahan so I went outside. He got out of his car when he saw me and put my order at my gate as requested.

This uncle reminded me of another Grabcar uncle. Quite some time ago I had a meeting and after the meeting I booked a cab. When I got into the car, the uncle was fiddling with his phone. I had to gently inform him that there was another car behind us waiting to move.

So uncle drove and parked by the side of the road and fiddled with his phone some more. We have to be patient with these old folks (I can say "old folks" because I am one myself hah...hah...) because they are not so conversant with technology.

Finally, uncle got the car moving and he drove back to where he picked me up. Then he drove away and came back to the same spot again! So I told him that he is driving to the pick up point instead of the destination. "The waze told me to go here!" he wailed. Oh dear.

I told him, never mind, forget about waze and I will guide you to my office. So he drove and midway he started to fiddle with his phone again and lost concentration. A car honked at us and I told the uncle to please forget his phone and just follow my directions.

Thankfully I arrived safely at my destination and when I wrote a review, I had to be honest hah..hah...

Anyway, back to my chicken.

My honey butter biscuit was broken and due to the time taken for the chicken to reach me, it was not as crispy as it should be.

But I will have to say that the chicken was way better than the one from the Uptown branch. So you see, these franchise places are inconsistent with their quality control.

My cat was fortunately unfortunately outside and not within sight when this was delivered, so mommy underwrite her portion hee..hee....

Early this morning we had a tete-a-tete.

Yup she woke me up. Earlier than usual >.<

Squeezed herself into the sofa with me.

Oh really? I scrubbed my toes last night lah...

What?

It's my sofa mah...I can have it all day long if I want.

Seriously?

She was not pleased.

Very persistent, this girl.

Must show her who is boss.

She turns on her charm.

  1. Never mind lah, forgive the poor uncle as he's trying to make a living in difficult times. Old folks tend to drive slowly and are also slow in figuring out tech stuff. You looked like you got the chicken parts you wanted...2 thighs & 1 drumstick? Huh, honey biscuit can also break apart? :D

Actually, cats like to squeeze into tight places with us. So, she could be enjoying herself being squeezed in while you thought she has taken over the sofa and wants you out. You see, she looks so miserable when you said 'ok, bye'! ;)

    1. Yes, I sympathize with the old folks having to struggle with tech stuff. It is harder to learn when you are older. Yup! I specifically mentioned which chicken parts I want. Ask and ye shall receive! hah..hah...

Oh, I did not realize that cats like that. Hmmm...I take it as a compliment then that she wants to huddle up with me.

  2. Ya, the sofa is big enough for both of you so both sleep there. No problemo! Nice negotiation there between u two. U r nice to let her have the sofa but she prefers u on it.

  6. Now THAT, I would agree. Very poor quality control between the outlets, these franchises...right down to the quality of the chicken they use! I'd stay far far away but my girl likes. Young people!

    2. P.S.
That WAZE thing is hopeless. A friend followed that when we were in Kuching - he said right up ahead, we were near...and lo and behold! I could see the shop among the blocks to my left right before my very eyes and I told my friend but no, he would not believe me, right up ahead, he kept saying. I had to raise my voice to get him to listen...and to this day, he's not talking to me!

And when the West Malaysian bloggers and friends were here, it took them on a merry go round and they reached the restaurant about 5 minutes away in half and hour or more. Directions given are for cars, taking one way streets into consideration.

And another time I pick a food court a stone's throw away, dunno why my friend got the GPS and followed it...and it took him to another side of time. I waited and waited...and in the end, I called him. It's a nuisance, really!

    3. Very true what you said about waze. It can go bonkers and lead you to "Holland". LOL! But it does have its advantages like notifying about traffic jam and suggesting alternative routes.
