Souffle Pancakes@Hotcake Damansara Uptown (CLOSED)

After an uninspiring lunch which left me unsatisfied, I decided to check out this new souffle pancake place. Nothing like dessert for a pick me up, eh?

I spotted this place some time ago when I left Mama Dessert and walked in the direction towards The Ship.

I attempted to visit once on a weekend but noticed that a group of people were in there (though a few seats were still available) and they were still waiting to be served. Not wanting to wait, I decided to return another day.

I had the whole place to myself when I finally popped in and ordered a Berry Blast combo (RM28.80) which comes with a drink.

You choose either Bubbly Milk Tea or Brown Sugar Love (which is just milk). I went with the bubble milk tea and would you believe it, this my first time having bubble milk tea. So jakun.

You order and pay at the cashier and when your order is ready, you collect it from the counter. The handwritten sign tells you that it takes 15 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be ready.

The decor is cute and cosy with faux clouds hanging from the ceiling.

Ah, my bubble tea is ready!

After I took a few sips, I suddenly remembered that I have lactose intolerance. I might be having another kind of blast after this. Gah! Too late ...

I'm afraid I did not like the milk tea, not that anything is wrong with it. It was just me, I am more into coffee. The only thing I liked was the tapioca pearls, so nice and chewy.

The souffle pancakes took an eternity. I finally saw the young lady plate it up and to my horror I saw her ladling something thick and milky onto the pancakes. It looked like condensed milk.

But no, it wasn't. To my relief it was actually a very nice tasting custard. As I cut into the pancake, wah! So fluffy and soft!

It was really good. This souffle pancake was very well executed and is much better than the one I had at Marco.

Messy but yummy.
I won't mind coming back but not so soon. At RM19.90 a serving (ala carte), this is not something I can afford to eat often. Next time, I'll skip the combo and see how their coffee fares.

UPDATE :

Sadly today (03-10-2019) when I passed by, I noted that Hotcake has closed.

Perhaps it would re-open if someone buys the business.

  1. Ah, you like the pancake unlike the bad reviews out there saying that the pancakes are served cold. Then I must try this to see how it compares to all the souffle pancakes that I gave eaten before. I peered through their window on Friday but didn't go in because the place was empty just like when you having the whole place to yourself.

    1. I worry if they can survive. That location is not very good. Too quiet.

  2. So did you have another kind of blast after the milk tea? if you like the pearls, I read reviews that Xin Fu Tang's pearls are the best so you could try their drinks without milk but with the pearls.

  4. So this hotcake is a hybrid...it's neither a pancake nor a souffle! Souffles are very difficult to execute (it's a dish that cooking contestants fear the most as it can easily collapse if not done right). So, it'd be better to call them souffle pancakes...in case anything happens..haha! :D Wow, that's a rather expensive lunch you had...over RM50...haiz, I don't have such budget for daily meals!!

Hey, you're not jakun-lah...I too have never had bubble milk tea...it's a choice. I don't like most of the Hong Kong milk tea I've tried so far, so I fear any milk tea would be about the same. I'm also afraid it'd be too sweet + I try not to drink sugary drinks + like you, I prefer coffee to tea. If there comes a day when I order a bubble milk tea, it'd be to try the tapioca pearls and nothing else...heehee! ;)

  10. This looks so sinfully delicious, I guess I won't dare to eat la! Must be high in calories and it is fattening. I can't afford to eat, otherwise all my effort spent in the gym is wasted.
